The Rice University Athletic Department is now accepting applications for the position of Marketing Assistant.
This 10-month internship position will report to the Director for Marketing and will be responsible for the creation and implementation of marketing plans for assigned sports, assisting with other sports marketing efforts and additional day to day activities of the marketing office.
Marketing Assistant will also be responsible for creating graphical content as directed for Rice Athletics social media, website and game day functions. Duties include, but not limited to,
• Creating and executing marketing plans including the development and implementation of strategies for attendance, revenue and fan engagement. • Creating digital content for the Rice Owls website and social media to promote Rice athletics events to students and the public; create content to assist with branding and image of Rice athletics; create content to populate the in-venue videoboards for Rice athletics contests. • Actively researching and developing new grassroots ideas for increasing attendance for assigned Rice sports. • Collaborating with the External Relations teams to generate new streams of revenue for the department. • Social media planning and coordination for assigned sports. • Developing and executing game scripts. • Working closely with Rice IMG Sports Marketing representatives to coordinate corporate sponsorship fulfillment. • Assisting with the coordination of promotions and fan engagement for select Rice athletics events. • Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree preferred in business, marketing, sports management or related field with a strong background in graphics design.
Preference is provided to individuals with experience in graphic design and sports marketing. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in graphic design, marketing, game management, promotions or corporate sponsorship fulfillment and execution. The candidate will also demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills, plus the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
The ability to work athletic events, irregular schedules, weekends and evenings is required.
This is a non-benefit eligible internship position paying $10,000 over 10 months.
