Serve as representative of the Society to external stakeholders such as other industry associations, members and the general public to create positive partnerships and outcomes for the Society.
Lead in identifying, developing and executing strategic initiatives for the Society that align the organization to serve present and future membership needs.
Manage the growth and retention of the Society’s geographically dispersed membership.
Lead, with Society’s Management Company and Executive Committee, the annual process of setting goals and objectives.
Take primary responsibility to design and implement appropriate metrics for the Society’s activities to evaluate and measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders and other constituents.
Provide overall direction, coordination and implementation of the policies of the Society
Encourage and lead all Society communication efforts, both internal and external, to insure that the Society is perceived in a positive manner by the membership, the community and other external stakeholders.
Serve as General Manager for all Society activities and insure that activities are properly conducted, reported and accounted for to the Board of Directors.
Shall act within the policies and guidelines of the Board of Directors, as well as the limitations of the Bylaws and Standing Rules of the Society and within the terms of the employment agreement which shall be reviewed annually by the Executive Committee
Serve as non-voting, ex-officio member of all standing committees of the Society with exception of the Nominating and Awards Committees.
Attend all Society-sponsored conferences and meetings of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
Marketing & Membership
Lead and implement all aspects of marketing communications for Society, including content on the web, newsletters, and publications; writing and editing materials to promote the Society's activities, to both members and prospects.
Develop a comprehensive communication plan for Society; defining objectives, target audiences, key messaging and tactical mix to support the organization's strategic plan.
Deepen and refine all aspects of communications - from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand.
Provide direction and oversight for the Society website and social media outreach to meet strategic goals and objectives.
Investigate and identify potential strategic alliances with businesses and other organizations; establish contacts and explore strategic partnerships to further Society’s objectives.
Ensure that thank-you letters for all donations, both to the Society and the Society’s Foundation, are prepared, sent and records maintained by type and organization.
Manage all Human Resource activities, including negotiation of benefits, administration of all benefits and payment of payroll.
Ensure compliance with all payroll reporting entities, manage performance appraisal process and create recommendations for merit increases and bonuses.
Ensure proper employee manuals and on-boarding plans are in place.
Maintain confidential personnel files for all current and former employees.
Facilities & Office Management
Responsible for employing an administrative staff to adequately fulfill the duties of the Society office. Shall be the authorized representative of the Society to sign contracts within the limits set by the Board of Directors.
Oversee all office administration including, ensuring regular facilities and equipment maintenance, managing any required repairs, ensuring staff coverage of administrative areas.
Manage all insurance and risk management activities.
Lead, coach, develop and retain the Society's working team.
Accounting & Finance
Ensure process is in place for cash receipts recording, for appropriate accounting controls and for reconciliation of all accounts.
Responsible for the collection of monies due the Society; and for the safekeeping and investing of the funds as instructed by the Board of Directors.
Act as primary liaison with accounting firm, to ensure:
-Proper accounting processes including all month-end and year-end entries and reports, annual and quarterly employee payroll and sales tax reports
-Correct inventory processing, controls and reconciliation.
Four year college degree (BS/BA) in Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Non-profit Administration or equivalent experience required.
Prefer Master’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration.
Work Experience & Skills
Minimum of 5 years management experience; track record of effectively leading an outcomes-based organization and staff
Demonstrated ability to exercise good and timely judgment in complex situations.
Strong written and verbal communciations skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
Strong knowledge of accounting and good judgement to make financial recommendations and/or decisions.
Experience in non-profit association management or companies that focus on member services or loyalty programming a plus
Ability to provide effective leadership that supports the Society's Mission and Values
Experience in HR management, IT systems and networks management and general administrative management
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage and develop a working team, set and achieve strategic objectives and manage a budget
Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable and innovative approach to business planning.
