Student Auxiliary Services (SAS) is a part of the Division of Finance and Administration at the Rochester of Institute of Technology. We work in collaboration with other departments under Finance and Administration, as well as integrate with other various divisions and colleges on campus.
RIT Dining Services is a key focused area. RIT Dining Services is a self-operated department that operates 22 campus locations including 13 restaurants and dining halls, 5 Markets and Convenience stores, a full-service catering department, 3 concession venues, and all campus vending. This position is offering a strong marketing professional an opportunity to join our team and university to continue to serve our current and future needs at a high level.
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Strategic Marketing, the Assistant Director of Marketing is responsible for representing RIT Dining Services by interfacing with the campus community with the key mission of developing relationships, increasing brand awareness and driving revenue gains through marketing plans and execution. With additional accountability to key departments and retail establishments, the employee will research, assess, recommend and implement marketing initiatives for key operations including but not limited to all aspects of marketing, publicity, event coordination, branding and mass communication campaigns.
Create and oversee marketing initiatives and content [including publications, website, marketing materials) for departments and ensure all marketing and communications are consistent with the university’s communications and branding goals and objectives.
Create new content and re-post content to drive exposure, influence, and engagement in all forms of social media.
Ensure effective delivery of information, engagement with audiences, and excellent customer service for those who use user-generated sites to seek information through listening and data analysis.
Work with retail managers and department heads to analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats within their areas. Translate analysis into marketing plans, initiatives, and campaigns. Manage the workflow, setting priorities, and timelines.
Conduct and measure promotions to ensure that marketing efforts are increasing sales, customer awareness and revenue goals within marketing budget. Use a variety of data points (MyMicros, YellowDog, Google Analytics, Social Media Analytics, etc) to drive data insights.
Assist with coordinating and organizing events as needed for departments. Attend events to ensure proper execution of intended initiatives from the marketing plan, which includes meeting and greeting customers, facilitating contests and promotions, taking photographs, issuing reports on the progress of the event, and measuring the event’s effectiveness.
Manage key projects and collaborate with team and project stakeholders to develop solutions and implement recommendations in an organized, professional and timely fashion.
Investigate opportunities for and assess the appropriateness to improve business practices to optimize operations.
Work with F&A Marketing Team for creative direction and needs.?
Manage and train student employees
Required Minimum Qualifications
3-5 years’ experience in marketing, advertising and/or hospitality operations
Experience with analyzing data, finding trends, and providing insight and recommendations
Proven knowledge of project management skills, social media strategy and the array of social media channels
Working knowledge of web and mobile app marketing, search engine optimization, google analytics and end-user experience
Knowledge/Experience with of product and/or service branding
Strong presentation skills and ability to present to large groups
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in the English language, including spelling, grammar, and creative writing
Strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well with others
Ability to manage competing projects
Proficient in Microsoft Office platforms – especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Ability to provide excellent service in a friendly, sincere and courteous manner
Ability to take direction from management and follow RIT branding, design, and web guidelines
Ability to work under pressure and work on multiple projects at a time
Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar topics and computer skills independently
Required Minimum Education Level
Bachelors or Equivalent Experience
Knowledge of Drupal or a content management software
Knowledge of Clic – retail hours and food menu content management software
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
Preferred Education Level
MBA, MS, MA
