This is a full-time position under the direct supervision of the Director of Marketing and Special Events. The Coordinator is responsible for creating visual materials that capture the mission and values of Duke Recreation and Physical Education. This position is responsible for assisting with a variety of marketing related duties that promote the department across the University’s three campuses.
Develops and executes, from conception to production, a wide array of publicity, promotional, communication and marketing materials utilizing a variety of print and digital media.
Manages the department website’s visual brand including graphic support, design animations, web banners, videography and photography.
Develops, upholds, and educates staff to ensure all communication pieces follow University branding standards and trademark regulations.
Creates and assesses all department social media content, engages with followers, and develops strategic social media campaigns.
Plans and produces video and photo content for website, social media, digital display, etc.
Continuously assesses marketing strategies and applies industry practices for design while actively researching and implementing new trends.
Co-facilitates regular production meetings and long range planning with the Director of Marketing and Special events and department Directors/Coordinators.
Recruits, trains, and evaluates student employee designers, photographers, and videographers.
Serves as a key resource to department staff on a wide variety of design and visual art elements.
Promotes and cultivates an environment that values inclusiveness and diversity, engages in evidence-based decision-making, and promotes student development and learning.
Serves on departmental, university, and/or national committees.
Performs other marketing and special event related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, Recreation Administration, Sport Management, or related field. One or more years of professional work experience in marketing or related field. Must have experience developing marketing and branding strategies using several disciplines (text, design, video, etc.) and media (guides, research, infographics, etc.). Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Familiarity with various social media platforms. Excellent oral and written communication skills that lend themselves to positive interaction with students, faculty, and staff. Must have current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification or be able to obtain within two months of employment.
Master’s degree from accredited institution in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, Recreation Administration, Sport Management, or related field. Two or more years of professional marketing experience in a higher education setting and preferably in collegiate recreation. Evidence of strong leadership, mentoring, and staff development skills. Experience with in-house digital media production to include video content. Experience with assessment efforts and data analysis.
