SALARY: | $67,232.00 - $111,596.00 Annually | | OPENING DATE: 12/12/17 | | CLOSING DATE: 1/19/2018 11:59 PM | | MAJOR FUNCTIONS: | Highly responsible administrative and management work assisting the Director / Deputy Director in planning, promoting, marketing, directing, and coordinating Sales & Marketing activities and operations at the Ocean Center. | | ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES: | (NOTE: These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.) - Works with Director/Deputy Director on development and implementation of a total marketing program to attract bookings.
- Works with Director/Deputy Director on budget preparation and monitoring of same.
- Implements and supervises the booking policy and marketing plan.
- Responsible for booking and coordination of public shows, conventions, trade shows, meetings and other events at the Ocean Center.
- Confers with meeting planners, association executives, and promoters in soliciting bookings.
- Establishes and maintains contact with booking agents, professional managers, and local arts groups to assure the continuous flow of events.
- Confers with lessees on event requirements and coordinates with department functions within the Ocean Center to assure the proper physical set up and requirements for all shows are met.
- Negotiates and enters into contracts for Ocean Center events.
- Monitors contracts and agreements to assure compliance with the terms of these contracts including the ticket services contract.
- Supervises sales and events staff.
- Performs public relations work by giving presentations to local divisions and associations, promoting the Ocean Center.
- Attends Industry Meetings on behalf of Ocean Center including but not limited to:
· Halifax Advertising Authority (Daytona Area CVB) · Hotel & Lodging Association · Chamber of Commerce · Tourism Development Council - May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs.
- Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.
- Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local Ordinances.
- Responds to emergency situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
| | MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: | Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Administration, Business Administration or a closely related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the administration and promotional management of a public facility/civic center and/or major hotel. A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Having met the minimum requirements the preferred candidate will have: - 5+ years convention/hotel sales experience.
- Minimum 2 years proven convention/hotel sales leadership experience leading a team of 3 to 5 sales managers.
- Experience with CRM software. Ocean Center currently uses Ungerboeck (USI) Facility Management Software
***Candidate must possess and maintain thereafter a valid Florida driver's license within 30 days of appointment. | | KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: | - Knowledge and skills in the application of the principles and methods of public facility/civic center management, including promotional publicity including the ability to produce and implement a highly effective marketing and sales plan and presentation activities.
- Knowledge of the business practices applicable to the management of a large scale exhibition and arena facility.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices and direct supervision of a full-time sales staff and other employees.
- Knowledge of effective contract negotiations.
- Ability to sell directly to the client.
- Knowledge of modern methods of the uses of advertising and sales enhancement tools from print to the internet and Social Media.
- Knowledge of proper personnel and purchasing procedures.
- Ability to plan, direct, and coordinate the work of subordinates.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with lessees, employees, the general public, and other County divisions and community stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Able to work under stressful conditions.
- Able to interact effectively with others.
- Must be able to relocate to other county locations based on operational needs.
