Reporting to the Marketing Communications Director, the Marketing Communications Project Manager is responsible for supporting the daily functions of the Communications & Public Affairs (C&PA) team to ensure the high quality creative output of the group. This includes the coordination of internal and external resources for excellent execution, ensuring projects answer the Creative Brief and are delivered on time and within budget.
The ideal candidate will have a general knowledge of project management best practices for both print and digital. This role requires a high level of organization and the ability to adapt to changing deadlines.
The Marketing Communications Project Manager will help contribute to the C&PA group’s overarching mission to increase Wellesley’s visibility in the world at large—building awareness of Wellesley’s place as first among all colleges—for women—and as one of the most prestigious undergraduate institutions in the world. All of the Marketing Communications Project Manager’s efforts will help reinforce the College’s mission and brand positioning and reflect its visual identity and key messages.
Primary Position Responsibilities: 1. Work closely with the Marketing Communications Director, Director of Design, and Graphic Designer to prioritize, track, and coordinate the development of print and digital deliverables. 2. Create and manage project timelines under the guidance of the Marketing Communications Director. 3. Maintain the C&PA group’s master calendar of events, which serves as a guide to all members of the team during issues-oriented planning. 4. Maintain a responsive, open-line of communication with all colleagues and departments to assist with creative design, copywriting, pre-production and production aspects of a project. 5. Create and enforce project schedules with input from team members as needed, helping to ensure that deadlines and launch dates are met. 6. Support the Director in managing project budgets, including production estimates and design expenses; ensure thorough and accurate project records are maintained. 7. Support the Director in developing and promoting the College’s Events webpages, helping to publicize events open to the public each semester. The Project Manager will develop support of individual events as appropriate, will manage students, and will execute event listings and any other tactical support. 8. Oversee the C&PA group’s photography database and the student workers who support it. 9. In developing communications, the Project Manager will ensure consistency with the College’s response to any significant and/or controversial issue. 10. Take on other responsibilities, as needed.
Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree • 1-2+ years of experience in a Communications role required • Excellent written and verbal communications skills • Excellent organizational, time management, and analytical/problem-solving skills are required, along with a high degree of flexibility • Ability to multi-task; extremely organized and detail-oriented • Ability to set and abide by project deadlines; ability to prioritize projects; experience managing both urgent, short-term projects and complex, longer-term projects • Experience managing design-driven projects. • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign and PhotoShop, preferred • Familiarity with key concepts in print and/or digital production • Ability to work and collaborate with a variety of constituencies including various College departments and groups and outside vendors/contributors
