The Vice President of Membership and Marketing is responsible for membership growth & retention, as well as marketing our programs, services, products and activities to attract, engage and maintain membership in the association. Responsible for business development and oversees all sponsorship and advertising activities. VP will be responsible for developing both short-term and long-range tactics and strategies to meet and exceed the needs of a diverse and growing membership through innovative recruitment and retention strategies. The ideal candidate will possess intellectual curiosity, embrace open collaboration and take an energetic and flexible approach to fulfilling our mission. Dynamic, growing and leading national association with a $7M budget and staff of 27.
In the areas of membership and marketing, lead, direct and manage staff to develop and executive innovative sales strategies and recruitment and retention initiatives which optimize membership targets and budgeted revenue goals.
Leverages deep industry knowledge and network to identify potential new members, maintains strong relationships with members and maximizes achievement of business goals.
Applies creativity, best practices, and industry research to develop and implement innovative recruitment and retention strategies to secure our position as the voice of the lawn and landscape industry.
Partners with senior leadership to define performance measurements, regular adjusts strategy and objectives to align with the evolving member needs and industry.
Conducts sales presentations, articulates the member value proposition and develops membership materials communicating the value proposition.
Identifies opportunities for sales process improvement and realignment of recruitment and retention strategy; facilitates successful implementation of new programs.
Institutes and formalizes membership sales process to track sales cycle of member prospects and renewals to accurately forecast membership revenue monthly.
Communicates and reports membership statistics, trends, and satisfaction to senior staff and board of directors.
Oversees the work of direct reports, and actively invest in team’s performance, professional growth and development.
Performs other duties as assigned
A minimum of 10 years of experience in sales/business development; association and/or lawn and landscape industry experience a plus.
Strong communication skills to conduct sales presentations, educational presentations and serve as a spokesperson for NALP.
Proven experience in developing and implementing sales plans, forecasting, planning and budgeting.
Proficiency with CRM systems and association database; ability to use data to analyze, problem solve and adjust/create strategies
Collaborative and creative thinker with strong ability to grow membership and association programs
Ability to gather, interpret, analyze and report statistics and other data
Exceptional oral and written communications abilities and negotiation skills
Ability to translate and deliver information for a broad range of audiences
Self-directed, goal-oriented, and the ability to work creatively and productively with colleagues
Ability to handle pressure in a deadline driven environment
