Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Iowa Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is accepting applications for an Associate Director of Marketing & Outreach. This position directly guides the SBDC efforts related to marketing and program development. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; maintaining compliance with Small Business Administration; addressing complaints and resolving problems. In addition, this position will be responsible for managing outreach efforts and marketing message at state wide level.
The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills to communicate with legislators, stakeholders and potential funders as well as partner organizations. In addition, the ability to assess opportunities to further the organization through quick decision making skills as well as ability to implement changes and work with state office staff to monitor these new processes or communication channels. The successful candidate will need to understand the business dynamics within the state and their economic implications; understand of statistical processes and statistical gathering; ability to quickly assess situations and make decisions. They will need to need to understand marketing principles and how people analyze and receive information. These skills will help with the design and implementation of the marketing strategy and legislative strategies which this position is heavily involved with the development of those strategies.
The successful candidate also needs to be able to hire and manage student employees to assist with operational implementation of the marketing strategy as well as new projects designed by this position to be implemented across the state to help the 15 regional centers achieve their goals and increase their impact and be able to work in a fast-paced, innovative, team environment.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 6 years of related experience; OR a Ph.D. or other professional degree and 3 years of related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
-Database management and analysis experience -Strategic planning experience

The successful candidate should also be able to travel to Regional Centers and unit sponsored events or meetings to attend or set-up and act as the host when necessary.
