The successful candidate will be responsible for coordination, development, and implementation of NWA communications and marketing plans that support member services and membership growth. Platforms used include a member portal, website, social media sites, NWA publications, and other delivery methods. The coordinator will work with the NWA office staff, Board of Directors, key committee chairs, and committees to accomplish tasks.
Average of 30-40 hours per week.
Coordinates NWA internal and external communications with the NWA Board, committees, and office to ensure communications with NWA members and the public are timely and relevant.
Develops an editorial calendar for communications disseminated through NWA publications, the website and social media sites to provide member services and market the association.
Develops a measurable marketing plan to increase NWA membership.
Coordinates the monthly NWA Newsletter and ensures it is disseminated in a timely basis.
Assists with aspects of publishing the NWA Journal of Operational Meteorology.
Participates in event planning and on-site operation of NWA meetings.
Works with other staff to explore and design better methods to complete NWA tasks and functions and stays current with software programs used for office tasks.
Other duties as assigned.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
Degree in communications and marketing, or equivalent experience, is preferred.
Proficient in the use of Office 365 programs and Google Suite programs.
Proficient in the use of social media tools.
Team oriented person who self-manages and self-motivates.
Plans and completes projects in a timely manner.
Experience with a performance- and outcomes-based organization performing similar duties.
Experience working with volunteers is highly desirable.
Experience working with non-profit associations/organizations is highly desirable.
Experience using QuickBooks and/or MemberClicks is a plus.
Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
A strong interest or knowledge of weather is a plus.
Some overnight travel is expected, especially to the NWA Annual Meeting.
