Classified Title: Communications Associate General Summary/Purpose: The Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering teaches students to think creatively while drawing upon mathematics and scientific principles to tackle difficult, real-world problems. The school is home to fifteen bachelor’s, fourteen master’s and ten doctoral full-time programs in nine academic departments. Engineering for Professionals is a division of the Whiting School of Engineering that administers online and part-time graduate master’s programs in 21 disciplines, including certificates. Students take courses online and, in some cases, on-site at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, MD. This position is the primary responsible party and point person for managing Johns Hopkins Whiting School’s Engineering for Professionals’ (EP) student and faculty recruitment activities, including managing the content and effectiveness of EP’s online recruitment and application tools, with additional responsibilities for identifying and attending key recruitment events and coordinating internal and external marketing communications. The Assistant Director will also assist with prospective student recruitment initiatives for the full-time graduate programs at the Whiting School. The Assistant Director will serve as the principal liaison responsible for creating an efficient, personalized recruitment experience for prospective students and faculty. The ideal candidate will be a charismatic professional with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively in a team environment. Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
