Assets School is seeking a Director of Marketing and Communications who is responsible for creating, implementing and leading effective communication and marketing strategies to advance the school’s mission, raise its visibility and articulate clear messages to all constituents. The Director is a member of the Advancement Department, working closely with the Director of Development, Executive Director of Capital Campaigns and Admissions Director. The Director of Marketing and Communications reports to the Head of School, works closely with the Board of Trustees, especially the Marketing Committee, and is a member of the Administrative Leadership Team.
This position requires a strong, savvy social media, marketing, events, communications and public relations leader. A successful candidate will be a self-starter — someone who sees opportunity and knows how to capitalize on it, who works well against deadlines, and is comfortable multi-tasking when required. Additionally, a successful candidate will be someone who is a sincere colleague who enjoys working in schools, collaborating with others on two campuses, and believes in Assets’ mission.
More specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Budget Management: Create and implement marketing tactics while actively managing budget with the Director of Finance.
Communication & Crisis Plan: Work with key constituents on both campuses and the Board of Trustees in the creation of a communication and crisis plan. Will include an approval process for materials being sent externally to constituents. May act as spokesperson for the school, at the direction of the Head of School.
Collateral: Manage the creation of all collateral materials to ensure they meet our branding guidelines and are in a consistent voice.
Earned & Paid Media: Get and keep Assets “in the news” through media channels and opportunities. Issue press releases on all relevant efforts/activities; maintain an updated press list; find opportunities to place school leadership in front of TV and print news on relevant topics and leverage appropriate hooks to connect Assets to the greater community. Work with outside vendors to manage and direct all paid media – including ads, advertorials, TV spots, and other placements. Create and maintain a Media Schedule so that all dates/events of importance are leveraged and capitalized on in all the right places.
Event Management: Ensure all school events are meeting branding guidelines, promoting our school appropriately, and are captured via photography or videography. Support the Advancement Department in the management of events, which may include table sales, venue management, silent and live auction, volunteers, programming, technology, and vendors.
Marketing Strategy: Create, manage and execute opportunities to raise Assets School awareness and build partnerships and marketing opportunities accordingly. Work with Head of School, Director of Development, Executive Director of Capital Campaigns and Admissions Director to incorporate marketing and media efforts into their strategies to help them reach their goals.
Social Media: Create, manage and execute a robust social media presence on multiple outlets, reflecting the school’s brand voice, mission, and identity. Engage families, students, prospects and thought leaders via interesting, compelling, relevant and routine presence.
Website & Web Management: Ensure the website is continuously updated with relevant and up-to-the-moment data. Track analytics and update marketing tactics as needed.
