Our award-winning marketing team seeks an experienced, motivated, innovative, and thoughtful Marketing Intelligence Analyst. The Marketing Intelligence Analyst will develop, support, and refine the current approach to monitoring the brand health and effectiveness of the college and its constituent units, as well as use evidence-based analytic techniques to monitor and assess the effectiveness of various communications and marketing efforts. The Marketing Intelligence Analyst will use social media and online conversation analysis tools to derive insights to inform marketing campaigns and communication plans, as well as contribute to market research efforts conducted by third parties on behalf of the college. This role will serve as a subject matter expert in the analytic evaluation of marketing and communications efforts and reporting techniques across LSA Advancement.
We are seeking someone with extensive, demonstrated experience coordinating and producing regular reports monitoring online performance analytics. You will need to have demonstrated experience using analytics insights to guide and refine future strategies. We need the individual selected for this role to be proficient at building user-friendly, explainable reports for colleagues and leadership. Additionally, it is critical you are skilled at using evidence-based analytic techniques to counsel marketing, public relations, and web management colleagues improving online marketing and communication tools.

Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis and reporting on sentiment of overall college brand health using a combination of techniques to include social media data analysis, traditional market research surveys and focus groups, and emerging techniques.
Propose, develop, support, and refine methods for evaluating the effectiveness of marketing and communications efforts for department leadership.
Derive data-driven insights in the area of brand positioning, audience segmentation and targeting, and persona development in support of strategic marketing and communication initiatives.
Keep up to date on and utilize knowledge of current higher education and other perception studies and audience analyses to inform marketing and communications strategies and campaign briefs.
Use a consultative approach to reporting and analyzing performance indicators across a large, decentralized organization.
Contribute to the continuing development of a data-driven marketing and communication culture by providing guidance, support, and implementation of best practices, tools, and analytic services.
Serve as the primary administrator for marketing intelligence tools, onboarding and training staff as necessary, and acting as subject matter expert.
Take a lead role in the collection and maintenance of key competitive college data points, statistics, and metrics from a variety of external and internal sources.

Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, statistics, business analytics, or other appropriate field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three or more years of professional experience working in an education or business environment on analysis projects with an emphasis on marketing and communications efforts.
Ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts clearly and simply for internal constituents and organizational leadership.
Conceptual thinker with strong research, investigative, analytical, presentation, and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to design both quantitative and qualitative research projects using digital media data to answer key business questions.
Familiarity with tests of statistical significance and capable of manipulating and visualizing large data sets.
Lifelong learner able to adapt to a continually evolving landscape of marketing data analysis techniques and tools.
Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments, adjust to shifting priorities and evolving standards, and produce high-quality work on deadline.
Experience using platform analytics tools such as Google Analytics, YouTube Insights, Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics and other social media monitoring tools (Hootsuite, Sprout, Meltwater, RivalIQ, Crimson Hexagon, Synthesio, Brandwatch, Sysomos, Netbase, etc.).
Proficient at building user-friendly, explainable reports and dashboards.
Ability to take both direction and initiative.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to both lead and work with others within a collaborative, team-based, positive work environment.
Must demonstrate impeccable attention to detail.
Experience working as a marketing or communications analyst in a creative and/or higher education setting.
Extensive expertise using platform analytics and social media monitoring tools.
Experience using Crimson Hexagon for brand health monitoring and campaign measurement.
Experience managing paid campaigns using Google AdWords, Facebook Business Manager.
High level of expertise in the use of Google Analytics including the creation and management of dashboards, filters, segments, funnels, and reports.
Proficiency with Qualtrics survey software or similar.
Experience working in a multi-layered organization with complex reporting relationships.
Experience evaluating the effectiveness of creative work both in print and digital forms.
Experience working within project management systems, specifically JIRA, Asana, Teamwork, or Wrike.
Passion for the University of Michigan and the liberal arts.
Working knowledge of the university’s organizational policies, rules, regulations, procurement and purchasing is desired.
