The Marketing Specialist develops and maintains the Bookstore's presence on the web, social networking sites, and the e-commerce site to increase awareness of the Bookstore's products and services and manages marketing programs and the Bookstore brand. The Marketing Specialist connects with incoming students and their families and informs them about the textbook ordering program during SOAR sessions.
Description of Primary Duties:
The Marketing Specialist will maintain the Bookstore’s presence on the web, social networking sites, and the e-commerce site. The Marketing Specialist will work with the Director and other full time staff in creating marketing programs and then manage them. The Marketing Specialist will work to connect with incoming students and their families by explaining the textbook ordering and rental program during SOAR sessions and/or any other events the Director requests the Marketing Specialist to attend. Increase awareness of the products, services, merchandising, and customer service of the Bookstore by using graphic design skills. Needs to be able to establish and maintain an active social media presence for the Bookstore for various audiences such as but not limited to parents, students, and alumni. Work with all departments to expand and support e-commerce offerings. Work with the Soft Goods Manager to maintain and update the online BearWear catalog. Track expenditures in the marketing budget. Supports the University’s 3 Pillars of Public Affairs.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
Education: A bachelor's degree is required.
Experience: At least one year of retail experience is preferred. Experience designing and maintaining web pages is preferred.
Skills: Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required. Knowledge of the use of social media platforms, including but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat, for marketing is required. Organizational ability is required. A general understanding of web design techniques is required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required. Supervision experience is preferred.
