Duke University is seeking 2 qualified candidates who will report to the Director of Sports Marketing to fill the role of the Assistant Director of Sports Marketing position. These positions will oversee the development, coordination and implementation of Olympic sports marketing plans for Duke University. The successful candidates will be key team players in building revenue generation, data, game day atmosphere, branding and community outreach for Duke University.
BA/BS recommended with a minimum of two year related experience at the collegiate or professional level suggested.
Manage, develop and implement the marketing and promotional strategy for assigned Olympic sports including student and community outreach, game day atmosphere and hospitality coordinator
Cultivate the development and implementation of season tickets, packages and single game promotions to increase revenues and attendance
Cultivate a strong working relationship other administrative units both inside Duke Athletics and across campus
Coordination of community outreach efforts to involve various groups throughout the Triangle area
Conceptualize the look each year for various Olympic sports and supervise the development of printed materials (i.e. posters, etc.)
Produce on-court, pre-game, half-time and post-game entertainment, presentation and music
Work alongside the Director of Sports Marketing to assist in the execution of corporate sponsorships contracts as it relates to assigned sports
Oversee the placement of multimedia advertising for assigned sports
Support and assist in the development and growth of group sales campaign for various varsity sports programs including data collection
Assist in the promotion of events and ticket packages via social media
Perform other related duties as assigned
Develop a strong and meaningful relationship with the coaching staffs, building a trust and collaboration
Be aggressive in developing methods to increase revenue, ticket sales and data collection
Build the growth of the fan base, creating unique opportunities for interaction and integration within the programs
Create strong communications and activations between the Duke Student Body and Duke Athletics
Direct vision and strategy for community and grass roots marketing efforts
Elevate the culture and brand of Duke University
Knowledge, Skills, Ability
Excellent communication skills both oral and written
Excellent interpersonal skills
Demonstrated experience in marketing or sales
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations as pertains to duties of position
Proficiency in computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe PhotoShop or InDesign or similar programs and other relevant software
Proficiency with social media including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter & Instagram
Ability to work under minimal supervision while achieving established goals
Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends
Valid driver license with good driving record; must be insurable
