We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Research Consultant who can turn data into insights to help the Lottery do good things for Oregon.
About the Department:
The Oregon Lottery’s Business Analytics and Insights Team serves as a center of excellence for promoting data-driven decision-making throughout the organization. As business consultants and partners to the enterprise, we integrate market research, advanced analytics, business intelligence, and market intelligence into program discovery, implementation, and ongoing performance management. This is a highly collaborative environment and we aim to provide relevant insights.
About the Role:
As our new Senior Research Consultant you will provide market research consultation, project and vendor management, execution, and analysis. You'll define business/research requirements to determine optimal and practical approaches for executing primary research and market trials. You will report to the Senior Manager of Business Analytics and Insights.
Partner and consult with agency colleagues to identify research required to inform business planning.
Establish research requirements and develop project specifications for market research projects, and market trials and pilots.
Translate study results into insights and recommendations which can be integrated into business strategies.
Oversee research vendor activities and coordinate with Lottery sections to exchange information and promote progress. You'll have primary responsibility for ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and actionability of research design and deliverables.
Work closely with our Data Scientists to add depth and value to research consultation and recommendations.
Bachelor’s Degree and five (5) years of senior-level experience in market research study design, management, and consultation; OR
Eight (8) years of senior-level experience in market research study design, management, and consultation.
Desired Experience and Qualifications
A mix of research methodologies and study designs, including ad hoc and programmatic research, product/concept testing, advertising/marketing research, and market trials
Lottery/gaming industry knowledge a plus
Conducting market research requiring the design, management, and execution of studies/analysis involving recommending and interpreting advanced analytics results
Research project management, including vendor selection and management, monitoring budgets, and confirming that study goals are met
Surfacing insights, implications, and recommendations as part of presentations and reporting informing strategy and tactics
Developing clear, informative, and compelling reports and presentations
Work across departments, levels of the organization and research vendors
Closely collaborate with an advanced analytics firm/team to conduct choice exercises, modeling (such as game mix or inventory optimization), forecasting, or other advanced analytics
Identify and combine related third-party and internal analytics along with market research results to provide insights and recommendations that consider multiple perspectives in answering business questions
Consult with key marketing and product stakeholders by understanding their strategies and helping them connect insights to actions
