The Manager of Marketing and Communications is primarily responsible for the implementation of marketing, communications and public relations strategies in support of the growth of the organization and its initiatives. Serving as the key support individual for the Director of Marketing and Communications, the manager is part of a cross-functional communications team and requires close coordination with various departments. Responsibilities include ensuring that projects achieve the desired results and that they are completed in a timely manner and within budget.

Execute marketing and communications strategies that leverage data and support the success of educational courses and conferences, organizational initiatives, programs and services;
Under the leadership of the Director of Marketing and Communications, work with individual departments and cross-departmental groups to design and implement marketing, value-based initiatives, public outreach and education programs, and related strategies;
Manage material development and related vendor processes including graphic design, print, proofing, approvals, fulfillment and mailing;
Develop external and internal materials, messaging and content using print, digital and e-mail communications;
Develop and execute project schedules and deadlines, working within assigned budgets and processes.
Understand and consistently demonstrate cross-functional
Concisely and proactively incorporate digital strategy and visibility for all programs; the use of social media throughout all aspects of the brand and programming is essential.
Understand the concepts behind programming and populating social media, developing followers, serving audiences and keeping content fresh daily or weekly, as needed.
Ability to work under tight deadlines regularly; proactively plan and fulfill expectations of team members, volunteer leaders and external audiences.
Work closely with team members and content providers to continuously promote the organizational brand and improve the integration of the organization’s marketing and communications efforts across all forums;
Bachelor’s degree (BA) in marketing, communications, business administration or related discipline;
A minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of experience in marketing/communications/public relations and/or related experience;
Demonstrated success in project management, marketing implementation, market research and promotional copywriting;
Expert-level competency in Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or similar photo-editing software. Hands-on, current experience with Web content management systems, broadcast email systems and membership/customer databases. Knowledge of file formats for print and online environments. Knowledge of terminology used by design and print vendors;
Excellent copywriting, editing and proofreading skills.
Keen time management and budgeting skills.
Self-starter and critical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong organizational and long-range planning skills.
Abilities: Relate to people at all levels of the organization; facilitate discussions; build and maintain effective working relationships; operate as a self-directed individual and team player.
Working Conditions and Other Requirements
In general, work is performed in an office environment. Because of the nature of our business, employees may be required to perform work off-site (i.e., hotels, conference centers, etc). On occasion, physical exertion (i.e., lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling) may be required to perform the essential job functions.
