Belmont University seeks experienced, qualified applicants for the position of Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Sales. This position is charged with advancing the strategic administration of athletic marketing, promotions, and sales to drive revenue, attendance, brand awareness, interest internally and externally, and improve and enhance the visibility of Belmont University Athletics. Specifically, the Associate Athletic Director will be responsible for:
Developing, implementing, and executing all marketing campaigns, advertising, game day promotions, sponsorships, and outreach programs for Belmont athletic programs;
Making direct sales calls;
Developing and evaluating annual attendance and sales/revenue goals;
Managing the athletics marketing and promotions budget, as well as the sponsorship fulfillment budget;
Collaborating with the ticket and development offices to plan and develop strategies for generating revenues and resources to meet departmental financial objectives and goals;
Directly supervising the Director of Athletic Marketing and Promotions and Director of Sales and Sponsorships;
Partnering with coaches to advance fundraising opportunities through speaking engagements to groups, the media, parents of student-athletes, alumni groups, private donors, and the general public. Initiating programs with coaches and student-athletes to enhance community relations and outreach to youth groups and other similar organizations in the surrounding area;
Cultivating on-campus relationships and exploring ways to partner and support campus endeavors, working directly with campus organizations to coordinate special events, such as homecoming activities, pep rallies, etc.;
Assuming overall responsibility for in-game marketing and promotions at all home basketball events, including video board scripts, game scripts, music, and time-out coordination with band, cheer, and sponsor activities. Supervising the cheerleading squad and serving as liaison to the pep band.
Qualified applicants will have a minimum five years’ experience in marketing/sales/external relations, preferably with experience in intercollegiate athletic administration; the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; skilled in communicating on a personal level, listening, assimilating, and evaluating information; the ability to work effectively with key donors and a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; skilled in athletic administration, compliance, and athletic marketing and development, including developing, planning, and implementing short and long-range budgets and implementing strategies and programs to increase revenue dedicated to athletics; supervisory and training skills necessary for supervision and training of assigned staff including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments; an understanding of the technical and tactical needs of a team and commitment to the NCAA Division 1 Philosophy and the role of Athletics within a private University; knowledge of policies and legislation relative to student records (including NCAA compliance, FERPA, and HIPAA laws); the ability to foster a cooperative work culture and thrive in an environment of hard work. Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree preferred.
