Marketing Manager

Position Summary

The Marketing Manager is responsible for the management and fulfillment of Destination DC advertising buys. This individual is responsible for the day-to-day work with Destination DC's media buying agency of record. He/she provides principal marketing support to the Associate Director, Marketing as well as other department team members.  This position is required by the Marketing & Communications department of Destination DC to help reach its goals and to fulfill its mission as the destination marketing organization for the nation's capital.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include the following, but are not limited to) 

1. Leads the fulfillment of domestic, leisure media buys. This includes submissions for internal placements as well as those made by Destination DC's media buying agency of record. Is responsible for ensuring that creative and content teams are aware of all advertising projects and that all deadlines are met with efficiency. Media buys may include print, digital, out of home, video, native and other assets. Tracks submissions and ensures the Associate Director, Marketing is aware of fulfillment status.
2. The marketing manager is the day-to-day contact with Destination DC's media buying agency of record. Ensures that advertising projects are continually moving forward and that the agency team has what is needed to achieve results. Keeps the Associate Director, Marketing and the SVP, Marketing and Communications aware of opportunities and challenges and works towards solving problems alongside the media buying agency team.
3. Manages member advertising co-ops for digital and media buys. Works with the Associate Director, Marketing to define advertising co-ops each fiscal year and ensures they are listed on the member extranet to be made available to members. Collects information from participating members and meets submission deadlines set by vendors. Works within Cvent to post advertising co-ops, invoice participating members and ensure payments are collected.
4. Works to ensures the Associate Director, Marketing and Creative Director are kept apprised of necessary creative assets and deadlines so that fulfillments are made on time. Ensures that each team has what is required to keep projects moving forward, including project information, creative and copy direction, priorities, deadlines and submission directives. The Marketing Manager should be familiar with each campaign's budget and the advertising assets associated with them.
5. Manages special projects related to media buys as needed. Examples of this include leading the efforts on aspects of DDC consumer events that are related to paid media (i.e. NYC Spring Pop-Up, Stay Local DC event, Citi Open filming shoots, etc.). Is able to speak to these events with confidence and full understanding of purpose and tasks. 
6. Understands the departmental budget on a high level, and is able to assist the Associate Director, Marketing and Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications with tracking specific line-items when necessary. Manages budgets related to advertising campaigns and projects and ensures that all associated line items are tracked. Works with Marketing Assistant to ensure that the correct invoice processing occurs for the department.
7. Understands and is comfortable working in all aspects of Destination DC's program assets, including SimpleView, Cvent and others as needed. Works within these program to tag members, ensure invoices are process, etc.
8. Assists with departmental projects, including tracking advertising spend for internal and stakeholder needs, writing content related to advertising spends, updating promotional website pages and working at off-site promotional events.
9. Delivers quality service to internal and external customers.
