University Career Services (UCS) at George Mason University is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic Content Marketing Strategist to assist with developing a plan and strategy to reorganize the content across our website and other content resources. This is a part-time position (approximately 20 hrs per week) and the work will be broken into two phases: 1) content review and plan/strategy development and 2) plan execution. This is a remote and in-person position. Candidates must be able to come into our Fairfax, VA office as needed.
This team member will be a high-level thinker, idea generator, and problem solver. Working closely with the Marketing Team and Career Experts, they will analyze all UCS content in order to define the relationship between the content and the UCS brand. The successful candidate will be able to communicate the UCS brand's story, and strategically map out the best way to craft and distribute content across various platforms and channels.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Content strategy development:
Gather user insights via content analytics, user research, focus groups, etc.;
Conduct stakeholder interviews;
Conduct content audits and inventories.
User experience practices:
Develop success metrics;
Craft user journeys;
Map content workflows;
Build a content matrix.
Long-term vision for content:
Provide content vision and recommendations;
Create or source content concepts, examples, and samples;
Develop a content governance system.
Content analysis and development:
Optimize the information architecture and taxonomy of the UCS website;
Develop quality checklists for content creation and review;
Analyze and improve existing writing style guides;
Develop a web analytics reporting process using Google Analytics.
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications or similar relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
3-5 years experience in content strategy development or similar role;
Working knowledge of Drupal or similar content management systems;
Exceptional organization and project management skills;
Able to work independently, develop timelines and own projects from start to finish;
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and demonstrated ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
Experience with presenting stakeholder training;
Previous work experience with a career services management system (Handshake, Symplicity, Sales Force, etc.).
Salary: $25-35/hour, depending on experience
