The Assistant Director for Digital Marketing is responsible for helping to lead the strategy and content development for digital marketing for the Advancement Division, with a focus on several key fundraising units. Specifically, the incumbent will develop email, social media, and web strategies to support the fundraising efforts of the Brown Annual Fund (The Brown Fund, Brown University Sports Foundation, Brown Medical Annual Fund, School of Engineering, and School of Public Health), Office of Planned Giving, Parent and Family Giving, etc. This role will have an annual goal of generating at least $2-3 million in revenue for Brown University from dozens of digital campaigns that may include several hundred email sends, and supporting web content, social media advertisements, and posts.
The Assistant Director also plays a lead role partnering with staff within Advancement Reporting Services, Advancement Communications, University Communications, other departments, to advise Director, Direct Marketing on segmentation strategies and messaging for outgoing marketing efforts. The Assistant Director is also responsible for requesting and ensuring the accuracy of digital data files, including biographic information and calculated fields for direct marketing communications.
In addition, this position is responsible for managing the role of Digital Marketing Production Specialist, who helps execute the preparation, testing, and sending of direct marketing email communications for division partners, in addition to playing a strategic production role for paid and organic social media.
The Assistant Director is responsible for maintaining visual designs and identities as well as static (text and images) and multimedia (audio and video) content, adhering to University standards in digital communications and image use.
Education and Experience
Bachelorâ™s degree and four years of relevant experience (advancement, marketing, communications, etc.), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and proofreading skills required.
Strong skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and database software required; familiarity with Windows and Macintosh environment preferred. Knowledge of and experience with web and graphic design software (Adobe Suite) is strongly preferred.
Must be comfortable and creative as a computer user, interested in using technology to streamline activities. Ability to adapt to changing technologies is essential.
