These include bariatric surgery, burn surgery, colorectal surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, endocrine surgery, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, transplant surgery, trauma, acute care and surgical critical care surgery, vascular surgery, and oncologic surgery.

The Department of Surgery Marketing and Strategic Communications Manager develops and implements strategic communications, public relations and marketing plans aimed at key audiences to include: news media; referring providers; UC administration; faculty, staff and students; external physicians; referring providers, business leaders; patients; and the general public.
This position is responsible for the planning, design and production of all strategic communications, events, marketing collateral, flyers, brochures, website content, social media, and fundraising activities within the Department of Surgery.
This position will partner with faculty coordinate potential referring provider visits to increase patient referrals.
This position will work in collaboration with Public Affairs and Marketing on behalf of the Department of Surgery.
This position will ensure work is in alignment with the Department of Surgery priorities and in support of the goals of department faculty.
Exceptionally strong writing, editing and proofreading skills; ability to compose clear, persuasive original communications.
Experience in positions that require creative thinking with ability to generate new and innovative communication and marketing ideas.
Experience and ability to conceptualize and develop content for diverse audiences in varied formats including promotional/advertising materials, feature articles, newsletters, web content and development communications.
Excellent oral and interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy skills, and ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of faculty and staff at all levels; understand their needs and communications objectives.
Experience working with a high degree of initiative with the ability to work independently.
Proven project-management skills.
Five years of increasing responsibility with professional writing, editing and publications development experience, preferably in a health care environment.
Knowledge of health care marketing concepts and theories.
Familiarity with common healthcare terminology; ability to read, discuss and understand technical concepts and translate into nontechnical terms.
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications or English.
Writing samples may be requested for use in screening process; test of writing skills may be included as part of interviewing process.
Travel is required.
