The National Weather Association (NWA) is looking for an enthusiastic and creative person with marketing and communication skills to help us grow our association both in members and services. We are looking for an individual who has the skills to:
Develop, test and implement marketing and communications strategies that achieve results. Write, edit and coordinate news and marketing content. Measure, track and report on marketing and communication methods and results. Work with member committee volunteers and other staff members as a team to accomplish Board of Directors strategic goals while working independently to accomplish tasks. Provide exemplary customer service and understand NWA members and potential members. Develop and/or improve processes and procedures. Coordinate NWA internal and external communications with the NWA Board, committees, and office to ensure communications with NWA members and the public are timely and relevant. Assist with promoting the NWA Foundation to increase revenue for scholarships and grants. Develop and implement advertising opportunities. Participates in event planning and operation of NWA meetings.
The NWA does provide earned Paid Time Off after three months on the job. Other benefits are not provided at this time. We are an equal opportunity and at will employer. The NWA (nwas.org) is an inclusive 501(c)(6) non-profit membership association with a mission of Connecting Operational Meteorologists in Pursuit of Excellence in Weather Forecasting, Communication and Service. We have a separate 501(c)(3) charitable foundation to support scholarships and educational grants.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in marketing or a related field, or equivalent demonstrable experience. Experience with a performance- and outcomes-based organization performing similar duties. Must have excellent communication skills. Experience and solid understanding of marketing best practices and tools, and digital and marketing. Experience editing and creating web pages. Self-manages and self-motivates. Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams. Analytical skills to measure and create easy to interpret reports. Creativity. Plans and completes projects in a timely manner. Experience working with volunteers is highly desirable. Experience working with non-profit organizations is highly desirable. Ability to travel to the NWA Annual Meeting and a few other meetings. Experience using MemberClicks Oasis is a plus. Experience with fundraising or building a fundraising plan is desirable. An interest in weather is a plus.
