Summary Since its founding in 1972, the leadership, administration, and community at Heschel have established and continued the foundations of a culture of philanthropy. We seek an experienced and passionate marketing and communications professional who will work with us to expand our brand to both our internal and external communities. The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for leading Heschel’s strategic communications and marketing initiatives that foster the school’s vision and mission. This position is responsible for developing and implementing the school’s overall communications and marketing plans, including strategic planning, website management and key branding and messaging objectives. The management level position is a key member of the school’s administrative team and reports to the Head of School.

Writing: Strong, warm, culturally savvy graduate-level written, exceptional attention to detail, extremely mission oriented, and able to blend in different voices/styles.
High-level proficiency with collaborative cloud computing (e.g. Google Suite for Education), platforms commonly used by not-for-profit organizations (Blackbaud), relevant to branding/marketing and communications; and a working knowledge of web development languages, student information systems, browsers, and other emerging web technologies. Responsibilities: Provide leadership for interaction between and among the school, parents, and friends, ensuring their support for the school’s mission and strategic plan. Work closely and effectively with Board members, the Head of School, administrative staff, faculty, and Parent Organization within the full range of activities. Consult with, provide information, and support for the Parent Organization regarding their fundraising activities. Attend and present reports (both written and oral) at Admin, Staff, and Board meetings as needed and/or requested. Design and implement a comprehensive marketing plan to include goals and objectives, strategies, programs, and activities. Research and follow up on marketing opportunities. Write and manage all school wide and admin communications. Oversee the implementation of all special community events, including but not limited to: Annual Gala, Welcome Back Beach Bash, Alumni Events, Generations Day, Community Shabbat, and Board Reception. Collaborate with the development office, plan and organize special events for the cultivation, recognition, and stewardship of parents, former parents, grandparents, alumni, donors, and friends, while working closely with the Board Development Committee. Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff. Commit to professional development through attendance at workshops and seminars, participate in webinars, conferences, and stay current with professional literature. Collaborate with other Independent School counterparts about trends and best practices. Demonstrate a positive attitude and build relationships across members of the organization.
