Marketing and Communications Manager, McDonough School of Business - Georgetown University
The Marketing and Communications Manager supports the Office of Marketing and Communications in its efforts to raise the visibility of the school by supporting the school's content strategy, media relations, and rankings efforts. Reports to the Director of Marketing and Communications and working collaboratively across all programs at the school, as well as with other communicators throughout the campus, the Marketing and Communications Manager has duties that include but are not limited to:
Writing and Newsroom Management
Manage the MSB website newsroom, developing content that represents the many programs and initiatives of the school and highlighting the Dean's vision and strategic differentiators
Report on analytics for newsroom stories
Supervise a team of student writers to assist with the content development
Write relevant content for the website and serve as a point of contact for the school's development of native advertising content for the branding or degree program marketing efforts
Work with the Associate Director, as needed, to develop content for printed materials
Assist in the writing, editing, and proofreading of print and digital publications
Serve as the point of contact for incoming media relations queries, matching expert faculty to reporters.
Work closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications and the Live Wire team on media relations efforts
Pitch signature event coverage and other announcements to relevant media, coordinating with the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications, as well as the school's centers/initiatives/institutes
Oversee media reporting, posting news stories to the website, and the development of the In the News weekly newsletter
Support the work of the Director of Marketing and Communications in responding to rankings surveys
Serve as a project manager for special projects, as assigned
At least 2 years of experience in communications, marketing, or a related field
Exceptional organization and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at once, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to shifting deadlines
Media relations experience, including writing press releases, pitching reporters, and facilitating interviews, and using media databases such as Cision
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proofreading
Strong working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, as well as experience in website posting
Experience in analytics reporting
Skilled with statistics and data reporting
Experience with AP style
