The Associate Director of Marketing & Fan Development will lead departmental efforts for fan experience initiatives in Blacksburg. This person will be a main driver in giving our customers a one-of-a-kind experience at our athletic events. This position works cross-functionally and reports to the Senior Director of Marketing & Fan Development with a focus on the overall gameday experience. This role will work collaboratively with our In-Venue Team and Virginia Tech Sports Properties stakeholders to improve and bring new ideas to gameday.
Duties & responsibilities include: collaborate and ideate with other members of the External team to create unforgettable moments for our fans at Lane Stadium and Cassell Coliseum; primary marketing contact for men’s basketball, secondary marketing contact for football, and additional marketing oversight of assigned sports; work closely with our In-Venue Team to create and execute all script elements of assigned sports; work with constituents both within Athletics and externally to continually enhance the fan experience at Virginia Tech Athletics events; assist in various revenue-generating opportunities; oversee student intern program in addition to overseeing student interns on assigned Olympic sports for game presentation, fan experience and community and campus engagement.

Master's degree and/or bachelor’s degree with related experience in marketing or similar field. Significant experience working in a marketing and promotions atmosphere. Experience developing written marketing and promotions plans and coordinating special events. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and similar computer programs. Strong written and oral communication skills.
