Associate Director of Advancement for Marketing & Communications

The Associate Director of Advancement for Marketing & Communications will work closely with the Board of Trustees, the Head of School, the Director of Advancement, and the Director of Admissions to develop and implement a broad, comprehensive, and strategic marketing and branding plan designed to promote enrollment and fundraising.
The role of the Associate Director of Advancement for Marketing & Communications is to manage the overall communication between Seabury Hall and the school’s internal and external constituencies. They prepare all marketing and communications materials using a variety of mediums including print, digital, video, and social media. They oversee all communication efforts via the school website, school-wide emails, and social media and write, design, and manage all printed publications such as the school magazine, admissions materials, fundraising, and special events materials. The position supports the work of the Advancement and Admissions offices and promotes the academic departments and programs of the school.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Associate Director of Advancement for Marketing & Communications will:
Identify emerging marketing opportunities, design effective targeting strategies, and report on results.
Oversee the production of a variety of materials meant to increase the school’s visibility and competitive positioning, and enhance the public’s perception of the school.
Work across all departments, including Academics, Athletics, and the Arts, to share student activities and successes.
Collaborate with the Admissions Office and the Advancement Office to develop strategies to recruit prospective students and engage committed alumni and families.
Create and direct a comprehensive publications program (concept, design, content, editorial, and production for paper and electronic communications) that reaches and influences the school’s target audiences.
Shape and maintain the strategic and creative direction of the school’s website.
Develop and manage an integrated online presence on social media platforms.
Cultivate and maintain working relationships between the school and the media as well as other key community organizations; create and maintain an official point of contact for public information.
Cultivate volunteer efforts in support of communication and marketing goals.
Supervise professional consultants contracted to address communication and marketing goals.
Develop and implement a crisis management communication plan.
Perform other duties as assigned by and in support of the Head of School and Director of Advancement.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Writes and distributes press releases related to major milestone events or school accomplishments
Creates, edits, and sends weekly email communication to the Seabury Hall community
Responsible for coordinating print and online advertising opportunities in various publications
Negotiates ad rates and additional PR opportunities for the school in designated online or print publications
Researches new and unique advertising opportunities
Manages daily communication, photos, content, and connections Seabury Hall’s social networking sites: Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Designs ad artwork, printed marketing material, event artwork, and other necessary pieces for the school
Responsible for making sure faculty and staff have proper access to brand guidelines and photographs necessary to complete program publications and announcements
Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in marketing and communications. Experience with independent schools or nonprofit organizations is a plus.

Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Proven ability to effectively lead, manage, and inspire a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment with multiple creative projects
Creative and artistic vision and direction
Experience in desktop publishing design and management of design production
Demonstrated experience with photography, videography, website content management and design, and social media marketing
Demonstrated success as a confident problem solver
Proven track record as an independent and goal-oriented manager with a dedication to meeting deadlines
