Position Description: Reporting to the Inaugural Dean for the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, the Executive Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing will initiate, manage, analyze and refine the communications and marketing strategy for the first and only professional School of Music within the University of California, and its constituents, including donors, students, media, the music industry, and the community in a manner that strategically builds and enhances the school's brand, builds strong online communities for the school, and supports initiatives related to enrollment management and institutional advancement.
Major duties include the leadership, creation, implementation, evaluation and assessment of strategies, programs and cross-platform materials to effectively communicate the mission of the School and its three departments (Music, Ethnomusicology, and Musicology), an interdepartmental program (Global Jazz Studies), and various institutes to targeted constituencies. S/he will work in close collaboration with the Inaugural Dean, the Executive Director of Development and the Associate Director of Admissions, faculty and other university leaders to strategically further the School's communications, admissions, development, and public relations impact and initiatives against established goals and benchmarking metrics.
