The Office of Marketing and Communications (MarCom) plays a strategic role in supporting the success of the college’s short-term and long-term goals for enrollment, alumni relations, philanthropy, brand visibility, and external reputation. Within our office, the marketing team is a group of data-savvy and performance-oriented types who aim to elevate the quantity and quality of engagement and enrollment outcomes. We develop, deploy, and optimize marketing communications campaigns and a multi-faceted organic website presence that can connect meaningfully with our prospective and current students, alumni, and other key audiences.
The Executive Director of Marketing will continue to advance the SC Johnson College of Business as a top-tier university for education, with particular focus on graduate programs. This role will be responsible for oversight and management of an annual paid media and marketing budget, forecast planning, performance evaluations, and reporting of graduate programs for the college. The position reports to the Associate Dean of Marketing and Communications and will provide guidance and recommendations to the Leadership Team for enhancing organizational effectiveness.
This position requires a bold and innovative leader who brings proven digital marketing management experience. The individual in this role should have a progressive approach to planning and utilizing data-driven techniques and tools to support the College’s mission, while meeting the enrollment targets of quality and quantity established in collaboration with the Schools and Program Directors. They will lead the recruitment marketing for the College’s graduate programs and ensure consistent approaches to risk management, data intelligence, reporting and evaluation.
The Executive Director is a skilled relationship builder, both within the College and across the University. Key partnerships with University Relations, especially the Brand Communications unit, are essential for success. It will be critical for this role to understand a complex, multi-stakeholder matrix structured academic organization that has centralized and decentralized operations. This role will oversee a team of 7+ strategists, analysts, directors, and specialists that support three schools and a central college unit across two campuses.
Critical success factors for this role include superb digital marketing acumen, a deep understanding of MBAs or the business school landscape within higher education, effective communication skills, strong technology competencies, integrity, strategic thinking, innovative practices, and the ability to problem solve.

Procurement, Vendor, and Budget Management and Other Duties as Described (10%)
A Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field, or equivalent experience with knowledge of financial operations and financial reporting.
A minimum of 10 years of digital marketing and/or communications management experience, including a strong record of leadership and supervisory experience.
Demonstrated strong written, oral, analytical, and reasoning skills, along with past success in highly collaborative working environments.
Deep understanding of using data to drive strategic decisions and measure the success of campaigns and digital marketing performance. Familiarity with Google Analytics, Salesforce, reporting and analytical tools highly sought. Experience working with highly confidential information.
An MBA or CPA is preferred, or an equivalent combination of a master’s degree in another field along with significant work experience.
Prior experience in higher education is strongly preferred as this role will interact with deans, department heads, faculty members, admissions, and program directors with budget responsibilities.
Comfort developing and communicating integrated marketing and communication plans to senior leadership to inform strategic decisions about recruitment marketing and and/or areas for future enhancement or investment.
