Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Marketing Assistant for the Graduate School of Education.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
Assists in coordinating the communications for all Center and Institute programs, events, initiatives, and fellowships.
Assists the Director for Programs and Communications in the promotion and marketing of the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Institute for Leadership, Equity, and Justice (Proctor Institute) and the Rutgers Center for Minority Serving Institutions.
Duties will include assisting with planning and implementation of programs, corresponding and engaging with program participants, designing and compiling program materials, day of coordination support.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
General Summary: Working within established marketing programs, assists in the execution of promotional mailings, including list search and acquisition, scheduling, cost control, and correspondence. Assists in coordinating direct mail trafficking operations between designer, printers, typesetters, and university departments. Assists in coordinating public relations activities. Communicates with sales representatives, the media, and authors on behalf of the marketing manager. Helps in the preparation of media releases. Assists with setup and with distribution of materials at book exhibits, promotional events, scholarly conventions, entertainment, sports, and other events. Coordinates advance book information for the media and staff. Is responsible for database input, computer-generated promotion pieces, and scheduling. Maintains department marketing databases such as publication lists, and schedules, searches and obtains the necessary and updated information. Utilizes the computer to simplify departmental correspondence by developing form letters and other routine communication for clerical use. Maintains records of freelance billings, vendor billings, pre-publication promotion schedules, etc. Initiates necessary follow up correspondence. Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a high school/vocational school education or equivalent, plus four years related office experience involving compiling and organizing varied data.
Related college-level study may be substituted for all or part of the experience requirement on a year for year basis.
Requires the ability to record and maintain data in computerized and non-computerized formats and working knowledge and the ability to use basic spreadsheet, word-processing, database software, and/or email.
Must be able to communicate effectively.
Must have effective client service skills.
May occasionally require travel and/or weekend and evening work.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Interest in Minority Serving Institutions and higher education
Experience using a variety of social media platforms, including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
Experience with Adobe suite including Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Premiere
Experience with HTML code, website content creation, and website management
Experience with MailChimp and Eventbrite
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Experience working with Minority Serving Institutions; familiarity with issues of leadership, equity, and justice; an interest in research. Audio and video editing experience.
Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel
A variety of social media platforms, including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
Adobe suite including Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Premiere
