The Director of Marketing and Communications (M+C) will provide strategic leadership for developing and executing an integrated communications and marketing plan for University Libraries (UL). In partnership with Libraries' administration and University Advancement, the Director will elevate the profile of the Libraries by highlighting advancement towards university and UL goals, particularly related to affordability, student success, faculty excellence, and innovation. This position will develop and execute communications strategy focusing on professional publications, Media Relations, and Development and Alumni Relations. This role will also contribute to the Libraries' strategic and operational planning and assessment and will serve as an expert advisor on communications to Libraries' administration.

Provides leadership for developing, creating, and implementing marketing and communications strategies and activities for University Libraries. Works closely with the Associate University Librarians and Dean of Libraries to ensure that communications priorities and innovations are expressed through multiple internal and external communication channels, with the highest priority placed on professional outlets, media, and development and alumni relations. Develops and implements communications strategies that highlight and promote achievements of the Libraries.
Coordinate closely with University Libraries' administration, staff, stakeholders, and partners in order to set media priorities focused on innovations, identify story ideas and opportunities for compelling storytelling, ensure consistency of overall messaging, and avoid duplication of effort and resources.
Serve as liaison to departments throughout the organization as a member of University Libraries' Directors and Department Heads (DDH) leadership team; ensure responsive marketing services for library departments; generate ideas for communication strategies; and develop related promotional plans, tactics, and materials.
Research emerging trends in design, share best practices, facilitate culture of critique among staff in graphic design, videography, photography, web development, and social media.
Provide management for staff and student employees. Supervise the Creative Director, who will conduct quality control and manage production workflow, as well as ensure adherence with UTA Visual Identity System.
Advance departmental, Libraries, and University goals.

Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, visual arts, or related field. Five (5) years of significant and progressive experience in marketing, communications, media strategy, and external relations for university, non-profit, and/or corporate organizations. Equivalent combinations of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Supervisory experience required.
Master's degree in marketing, communication, visual arts, or related field; previous experience in higher education.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
Multimedia skills, such as online publishing, social media, videography, design, etc.
MS Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel
Knowledge of Windows Operating System and file management
