The Recruitment and Marketing Specialist is a pivotal member of the Graduate Programs staff tasked with creating a cohesive communication and marketing strategy for all graduate programs at the University of Michigan – Flint. The position will work hand-in-hand with academic departments to create recruitment and marketing plans to assist units in reaching their enrollment goals and support both centralized and departmental efforts to enhance all graduate programs across the university.
- Monitors enrollment trends and adjusts short and long-term recruitment strategies accordingly.
- Develops, coordinates, plans, implements, supervises, and evaluates domestic and international graduate recruitment and communication plans, programs and materials for UM-Flint graduate programs.
- Serves as leader, advisor, and trainer for recruitment staff in the unit and assists in leading recruitment efforts.
- In conjunction with the Director of Graduate Programs and other staff, works to update and improve all communication plans within Graduate Programs Admissions Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system - TargetX.
- Works with faculty and staff among the six colleges/schools to highlight current students and alumni. Also works with programs to increase media attention to graduate programs, faculty, and students.
- Creates individual programmatic marketing plans in conjunction with departments. This includes the creation of both vision and goals in regards to enrollment targets for the year.
- Along with the Director and other staff, coordinates the development and implementation of recruitment goals and objectives.
- Develops and manages content for online and print media in conjunction with University Marketing and Communications (MAC), including brochures, direct mail, social media, websites, and other media.
- Coordinates and evaluates web-based promotions such as email and digital campaigns, search engine optimization, webinars, and social media using available analytical tools.
- Plans and monitors recruitment budget.
- Represents Office of Graduate Programs at events both in-person and online.
- Identifies appropriate delivery methods for recruitment efforts, including presentations, targeted email, printed documents, newspapers, webpages and social media.
- Other related duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Previous recruitment experience, marketing, and/or communications is required.
- Previous experience creating and implementing recruitment/marketing/communication plans including print, website, social media, digital advertising, and other media communications is required.
- Familiarity with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including strong presentation skills.
- Demonstrated experience working independently and using sound independent judgment.
- Master’s degree
- Minimum 3-5 years of college admissions/recruitment experience, marketing, and/or communications is desired.
- Familiarity with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool, preferably TargetX (Salesforce)
- Experience using Google Analytics
- Experience managing Social Media pages and strategy
- Experience in an academic environment, especially in an admissions area
