Subiaco Academy is looking for professionals who are committed to supporting and promoting an independent, Catholic, boarding and day school, single-sex education environment, particularly an individual for our Marketing and Communications Director position to begin the summer of 2022. This is a full-time, 40 hour/week, 12-month, exempt staff position with some evening and weekend work that reports directly to the Academy’s Assistant Head of School for Enrollment and Community Outreach. The expected daily schedule is 8:00 am-4:30 pm.
The Marketing and Communications Director will
- develop and execute annual marketing and communication plans that engage internal and external constituents to inform and increase awareness of the academy
- generate interest among prospective families; strengthen our brand awareness; and raise visibility regionally, nationally, and internationally
- identify emerging marketing opportunities, design effective targeting strategies, and report on results
- create and direct a comprehensive publications program (concept, design, content, editorial, and production for paper and electronic communications) that reaches and influences the school’s target audiences (including social media and website)
- manage the school’s graphic identity and brand awareness by vetting all departments’ and campus groups’ use of logos/messages
- generates press releases and cultivates media relationships
- serves as internal brand manager, managing and enforcing brand standards and logo usage
The Marketing and Communications Director will demonstrate key elements of the listed expertise and experiences. This is an aspirational list and Subiaco Academy encourages candidates to apply who may not currently possess, but are working on building, all of these qualities.
The Marketing and Communications Director:
- holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Marketing, Communications or a related field
- has a minimum five years related work experience, preferably in nonprofit or education settings, including broad experience with communications and marketing strategies, tools, and best practices
- demonstrates expertise in related technical skills, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator; digital photography and editing and video production; web publishing applications, Microsoft Office suite, Google apps, blogging, and social media; and a thirst and ability for continued learning of new technologies
- has excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills including copy-editing and proofreading skills
- is able to articulate and communicate complex issues to a variety of audiences
- has a track record of initiative, creativity and a passion for education, students and community
- shows strong networking, relationship-building, and organizational skills
- demonstrates project management expertise including the ability to plan comprehensively, work independently and collaboratively, and prioritize and manage projects to satisfy competing project deadlines
- strong work ethic, generous spirit, and excellent speaking and writing skills
- proven ability to effectively lead, manage multiple creative projects
- demonstrated success as a confident problem solver
- proven track record as an independent and goal-oriented manager with a dedication to meeting deadlines
- collaborator who is energized by ideation and determined to bring the best ideas to implementation
- willingness to work non-conventional hours, including some evenings and weekends.
