The University of Hartford seeks three Graduate Assistants to work in its Athletics Department in the areas of New Media, Marketing/Development, Men’s & Women’s Golf. These 10-month positions, which can be renewed for a second year, will start August 1, 2022, and will run through May 31, 2023.
Job Responsibilities:
New Media •Serve as the top assistant for all of Hartford’s broadcast productions. This includes setting up live streams through Sidearm, testing equipment for on-air talent, and performing various tasks in the production truck (replay, audio, etc.) •Shoot and edit videos to be used on social media, for both team-specific pages and the main Hartford Hawks accounts. •Produce recurring features (podcasts, video recaps, etc.) that will be promoted on social media and HartfordHawks.com. •Travel with the sports programs to produce feature content at the discretion of the Director of New Media and Assistant Athletics Director for Communications. •Assist in the department’s marketing efforts through graphic design and production of additional social media content as needed. •Assist in the training and oversight of an undergraduate student staff. •Performs other duties as assigned.
Marketing/Development •Assist in the creation of ticket sales and marketing plans for all revenue-generating sports (M/W Soccer, M/W Basketball, M/W Lacrosse). •Oversee (under the supervision of the Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing) the day-to-day responsibilities of the Box Office, including supervising student game day staff, and act as Box Office Manager on game days. •Create and execute marketing plans geared towards students for all home contests and other marquee events. •Travel with sports programs at the discretion of the Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing. •Assist Athletics Development in the planning and execution of annual fundraising events (golf tournaments, dinners, on-campus promotions, annual Day of Giving, etc.). •Work with the Director of New Media to create video content geared towards social media and marketing efforts, including recurring feature pieces (podcast, weekly recaps, etc.). •Assist in the scheduling/management of Howie the Hawk performers and public appearances. •Other relevant duties as assigned.
Men’s & Women’s Golf •Assignments and duties as specified by the head coach •Aid in the recruitment of student-athletes •Assist with tournament operation •On course coaching •Assist with travel planning & supervision of student-athletes
Requirements & Expectations: •Admittance into a University of Hartford graduate program (applications can be done simultaneously). •Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required •Two-year commitment as a Graduate Assistant is preferred. •One or more year’s experience in intercollegiate athletics (including as a student-athlete, student assistant or intern) or similar setting. •Ability to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends and some holidays. •Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check.
Compensation: •Your assistantship includes a base tuition waiver that covers 18 credits per academic year. •Base tuition does not include room/board, registration fees, or the cost of books and materials. On campus housing can be included if candidate is willing to assist Res Life. •A stipend of $5,000.
