YCA seeks an innovative and creative senior level Director of Marketing and Communication to join our team as a thought partner. We are looking for a skilled and dynamic communicator who can harmonize our branding and storytelling throughout the organization with our varied activities. YCA wishes to expand our reach and relevance nationally and internationally as we promote the brilliant young artists on our roster, our annual concerts in New York City and Washington DC, our internationally recognized auditions, and a range of special projects. The position allows the possibility to spearhead some of the new initiatives and explore new ways of promoting classical musicians. This position reports to the President and will join the senior staff Leadership Team. The position will work with the entire organization, but will work most closely with the Director of Programs and Auditions and will oversee the Media Manager’s work. The non-profit nature of YCA connects this position with a community that includes Board members, donors, illustrious YCA alumni, venues in NYC and Washington DC, and a staff of thirteen. As a small non-profit located in the heart of the arts in Manhattan, we are a close team ready to pitch in with a strong spirit of collaboration. Lead and oversee a strategic and comprehensive communications plan for YCA that uses multiple platforms, including print, social media, and web
Work with the YCA Media Manager, senior staff, and Unison Media (YCA’s PR firm) to craft and implement an organizational brand and storytelling style
Design and create YCA’s regular mass emails and newsletter style communications
Oversee creation, reproduction, and distribution of YCA print materials (season brochure, artist roster, special materials)
Oversee creation and implementation of a social media strategy - working closely with YCA’s Media Manager
Oversee YCA website
Work across the organization for important YCA copy and copy editing
Create and implement YCA advertising strategy
Work with Unison Media on larger PR strategy
5 years experience in marketing, communications strategy, and the performing arts with a proven track record of results
Excellent writing and editing skills
Strong communication skills across multiple platforms
Broad experience in print media and digital media
A passionate and engaging storyteller
A good strategic thinker - can creatively identify marketing and storytelling opportunities when producing engaging marketing materials and content
Broad experience with social media and a desire to embrace new platforms and technologies
Great people skills and ability to work well on a team
Love and respect for classical music is a must
Undergraduate degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
Strong background in classical music
Experience with website design

Young Concert Artists seeks to discover brilliant and promising young classical musicians on the cusp of major careers. Through a rigorous international audition process we select a few new artists each year and offer them concert debuts in NYC and Washington DC, management, career guidance, and an array of publicity services.
