The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Marketing Manager for the Greater Ft Lauderdale Convention and Visitor's Bureau (Visit Lauderdale).
Manage day-to-day contact with a wide variety of earned media (broadcast, print, digital, & social). Identify innovative and creative ways to engage with media. Facilitate media relationship building events, including in-market press meetings, familiarization tours, desk sides. Manage editorial calendar in collaboration with the agency and other departments. Draft and facilitate media pitches. Research, write, edit, produce, and disseminate press materials (releases, fact sheets, key messaging, presentations, digital content). Help organize promotional events such as press, experiential, influencer and other consumer-facing initiatives. Liaise within internal teams, destination partners, and agencies about budgets, timelines and objectives. Responding to press inquiries for photo and video requests and story research. Distribute press clippings to partners and tracking in CRM. Maintaining CRM and utilizing it to track budgets, in-kind and ROI for partners participating in hosting media visits. Maintain and coordinate press kits both print and digital. Assemble media gift bags. Research and update public relations materials such as fact sheets, backgrounders, media briefing documents, social media content, blogs, media alerts, calendar announcements, advertorials, meeting summaries, status reports, program recaps and other materials as directed. Create and maintain media lists and editorial calendars for local, national and trade media. Assist with updates to the online press site and other administrative duties as assigned. Assists in the development of itineraries for individual visiting journalists including obtaining accommodations, guided tours, meals and escorts as needed. Assists in coordinating media familiarization tours for press groups, including obtaining transportation, accommodations, guided tours, meals, and escorts as needed. Ensures clips from markets of responsibility are accurately entered in the department database. Ensures media database is up to date. Assists in preparation of department monthly performance reports.
Develops and implements a business development and/or public relations plan for an agency. Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in marketing, business administration, public relations or closely related field.
Requires four (4) years in marketing, advertising, special events coordination, or public relations work or closely related experience. Requires one (1) year of supervisory experience depending upon area of assignment.
