The Director of Marketing and Fan Experience, in conjunction with the Associate Athletic Director of Marketing & Fan Experience, oversees the development, implementation, and execution of a comprehensive strategic marketing and promotions plan for all home athletic events for all 17 sports targeting a variety of diverse audiences including alumni, faculty, staff, friends of WSU, administration, and current students. Specifically, this position will have delegated oversight of game production for the football program and directly oversee the marketing of the men’s basketball. This position also manages a variety of public relation activities on-campus and within the community, including the direct oversight of the department’s local advertising. The Director of Marketing and Fan Experience is also responsible for assisting with oversight of the Marketing Department’s Student Internship Program, including the recruitment and hiring of student interns for the department.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field AND three (3) years of professional level experience in marketing, promotional or related work. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends on a regular basis.
Must have, or able to obtain, a valid driver's license by time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in marketing, public relations, communications related field.
Demonstrated successful marketing and promotion experience in athletics.
Demonstrated experience in the development and management of budgets.
Demonstrated work experience in sponsorship sales and contract fulfillments.
Demonstrated successful experience in management and supervision of internship or student programs.
Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete projects independently and with specific deadlines.
Demonstrated experience working in positions that require strong communication skills.
Possess strong time management and organizational skills.
Strong computer background with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe software.
Ability to work with students, coaches, and administrators in a broad range of situations.
