The Division of Research and Innovation at the Prairie View A&M University is looking for a Marketing and Communications Manager for Research and Innovation. Manages internal and external communications, coordinates development of effective marketing/ communications materials and implements a strategic marketing/ communications plan. The Manager will have the ability to multitask quickly and professionally in response to competing demands in a fast paced, dynamic higher education environment. The successful candidate will have patience, flexibility, a high level of professionalism, a keen sense of priorities and breadth of change management acumen, and a superb level of tact and discretion. Responsible for external and internal communications across and overseeing several university channels, the role prepares content, articles, media, news releases and other content initiatives to cultivate and maintain relationships with media representatives and others to inform and support communications across the diverse audiences.
Manages internal and external communications. Writes, reviews and edits bold and impactful written materials for targeted audiences, prepares presentations and communicates with appropriate parties to announce new initiatives and discuss organizational changes that maintain a positive image of the Division and university.
Coordinates with creative groups in development of effective marketing and communication materials including production and design direction, branding strategies, quality control of materials, brand and style guides, etc.
Creates, develops and implements a strategic marketing/communications plan for the Division.
Creates messaging to communicate priorities and impacts for internal and external constituents, elected officials, stakeholders, employees.
Serve as a member of executive communications group, oversees website content, maintenance and social media strategy.
Facilitates key events in the Division.
Assists with pitches and opportunities to various media outlets in collaboration with the office for University Marketing and Communications.
May supervise support staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
Five years of related experience
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills.
Bachelorâ™s degree in English, Marketing, Communications or related field
Five or more years of experience working in Marketing & Communications
Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated skills in writing and editing.
Demonstrated success in implementing communication campaigns.
Experience with web design, photography, videography, and/or graphic design.
Ability to adapt to emerging technologies.
Good problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Ability to work with collaboratively with student, faculty, staff and other stakeholders.
Â Ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues that supports a cooperative work environment.
