Title: Manager, Exhibits and Sponsorships
Reports to: Director, Foundation and Business Development

Position Purpose: In conjunction with the Director of Foundation and Business Development, the Manager of Exhibits and Sponsorships is responsible for the achievement of non-dues/non-donation revenue goals for SAEM and the SAEM Foundation. The Manager of Exhibits and Sponsorships secures partnerships with key companies in the industry that fit the needs of the corporation and SAEM and SAEMF and builds strategic relationships to sustain the organizations. The Manager of Exhibits and Sponsorships manages the exhibits, sponsorships, advertising, educational grants and industry symposia for SAEM and SAEMF. This position works in the office Monday – Thursday and works from home on Fridays every week.
Exhibits and Sponsorships
The Director of Foundation and Business Development and the Manager of Exhibits and Sponsorships set the revenue goals and strategy for all industry interactions. The Manager of BExhibits and Sponsorships strategically targets and procures company sales in the following areas: Exhibits; Industry sponsorships for campaigns, meetings & events, and educational initiatives; Educational Grants for SAEM, SAEM Foundation and AACEM; Advertising through the EM Job Link career center, electronic publications, website ads, and other channels; Satellite/Industry Symposium both regionally and nationally.
- New Business Development
- Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
- Cold call as appropriate to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities. * Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
- Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization.
- Research and build relationships with new clients.
- Set up meetings between client decision makers and company’s practice leaders/Principals.
- Plan approaches and pitches. * Work with team to develop proposals that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
- Participate in pricing the solution/service.
- Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion. * Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately.
- Present an image that mirrors that of the client.
- Client Retention
- Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
- Work with colleagues to meet customer needs.
- Business Development Planning
- Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
- Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.
- Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.
- Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
- Management and Research
- Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate.
- Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the company’s database
- Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met.
- Track and record activity on accounts and help to close deals to meet these targets.
- Work with marketing staff to ensure that prerequisites (like prequalification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner.
- Understand the company’s goal and purpose to enhance the company’s performance.
Fundraising and Development
- Support the Director of Foundation and Business Development in implementing fundraising strategies for individual, corporate, and foundation giving
- Assist in recruiting, cultivating, and retaining donor base
- Provide governance assistance to SAEM Foundation Board of Trustees
- Manage the grant-seeking activities of the Society, Foundation, and AACEM
Qualifications
Ideal candidates must possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Demonstrated experience in foundation activities, business development, or sales (2-5 years of experience)
- Experience in nonprofit organizations or associations highly preferred
- Must be available to travel, including some weekends
- Proficient skills in Networking, Persuasion, Prospecting, Public Speaking, Research, Writing, Meeting Sales Goals, Professionalism, and Microsoft Office.
