Michigan State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is searching for an Assistant Director of Marketing and Fan Engagement.
The Assistant Director of Marketing and Fan Engagement will provide assistance in planning and implementation of a comprehensive marketing strategy for all Department of Intercollegiate Athletics varsity sports through various campus and community outreach programs and engagement activities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
Marketing Plans – Assist in the preparation, implementation and evaluation of marketing plans for assigned sports as well as support for football and men’s basketball. Emphasis will be placed on attendance, game presentation and fan engagement. Coordinate quarterly marketing meetings with head coach, staff, ticket office, sports information, event management, and sports supervisor.
Game Presentation – Lead in game presentation for assigned sports to include timelines, scripts, promotions, giveaways, atmosphere, PA announcements, DJ, videoboard, entertainment, special events, band, cheerleaders, dance team, student groups, and product sampling.
50/50 Raffle – Assist in developing and implementing 50/50 raffles at annual Department events to include football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, hockey and other events to be determined. Participate in the acquisition, storage, use and maintenance of equipment specifically designed to conduct the 50/50 raffles. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. Identify, select, train, supervise and compensate volunteer groups that assist with 50/50 raffles.
Ticket Sales & Attendance - Provide effective marketing support and strategies geared to maximize ticket sales, including season, mini-plans, single game, post-season and special events.
These efforts will be implemented to meet or exceed annual season and individual game ticket sales goals and attendance at these events.
Multimedia Rights and Revenue Generation – Assist in the implementation and execution of multi-media rights agreements and external revenue generating activities including licensing, merchandising, hospitality, and concessions.
Special Events – Assist with in the planning and implementation of special events including Michigan State Madness, Spring Football Game; Junior Spartans Kids Club; and any other special events to be determined.
Customer Service & Enhanced Fan Experience – Provide solutions to continuously improve customer service and enhanced game-day experience for fans.

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a bachelor's degree in a related field; three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in the planning and directing events; ability to work nights and weekends as needed for sporting events
Knowledge of principles and methods for promoting and marketing events; interpersonal skill s including strong skills in written, oral, and electronic communication and effective use of social media
