As a senior management team leader, the incumbent will lead the team responsible for Marketing, advertising and promotion plans, strategic initiatives and messaging across all 23 sport programs at UC San Diego to maximize interest, drive attendance, create affinity and revenue opportunities among internal and external audiences. This position will be responsible for ideation, planning and execution of game day operations and experiences for all audiences
This position will be responsible for increasing awareness, engagement, and conversion through integrated marketing strategies across events, traditional, and digital tactics. This position will include supervision and training of marketing Interns and students including recruiting, training and scheduling part-time staff and student employees. The Assoc Director will need to possess an innovative and creative mind to produce marketing strategies that work cooperatively with the areas of graphic design, photography, video production, ticketing, digital media, public relations, alumni relations and development during a transformative time for UC San Diego Athletics. This position will be responsible for ensuring Athletics marketing and advertising campaigns and all promotional materials align with university brand standards. Work strategically with other senior leadership related to development, marketing, corporate sponsorship and event operations to maximize revenues and create comprehensive marketing campaigns and manage marketing operating budget. The Assoc Director will also need to possess the experience and skill set to interact with a broad spectrum of internal and external constituencies.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Professional knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of NCAA athletics programs, as well as the rules and regulations related to logo use, advertisements, student-athlete eligibility and amateurism, playing and practice schedules, and the restrictions for extra benefits to student athletes. Demonstrated integrity and commitment to academic excellence. Incumbent should have broad experience with university Athletics and/or sports marketing planning and execution.
Strong analytical and written communication skills. Demonstrated supervisory skills, including the ability to train, motivate, and evaluate student employees, interns and volunteers; to delegate tasks; to schedule sufficient staffing for simultaneous athletic events based on knowledge of all schedules and the needs for sporting events.
Thorough knowledge of marketing mediums and funding sources.
Thorough knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques. Ability to independently exercise judgment within broadly defined guidelines and policies and select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results which may impact the Intercollegiate Athletics program and the University. Experience and knowledge in a university and athletics marketing office working with ticketing platforms, sales, customer service and client services.
