The Content Marketing Strategist will lead all functions of developing, executing and measuring a comprehensive written content marketing strategy that aligns with Gannon University's Mission, goals and objectives while elevating brand awareness and engaging key audiences. The content marketing strategist will be responsible for all aspects of copywriting and creating written content strategy deliverables across integrated marketing and communications channels including publications, public relations initiatives, webpages, emails, campaigns, advertising copy, marketing recruitment and advancement material, video and oral scripts, internal and external communications and more.
Develop and manage written content strategies for traditional and digital marketing channels as well as content marketing and distribution platforms while ensuring all content is on brand and consistent in style, quality and voice.
Lead all aspects of generating written content on behalf of the university including publications, public relations initiatives, webpages, emails and e-newsletters, campaigns, advertising copy, admissions and advancement material, crisis communications, video and oral scripts, and other items as needed.
Create and manage a strategic content schedule that accounts for all content channels while collaborating with key team members to lead the departmental content production.
Manage production of the bi-annual university alumni magazine through all stages of production, including developing an editorial calendar, writing content and managing contributing writers, and coordinating creative assets with team members for print and digital issues.
Develop and manage updates to website content that enhances the user experience, conveys the university brand, and leverages search engine optimization.
Develop and execute search engine optimization strategies across channels to develop, optimize and measure content that leverages marketing initiatives and drives results.
Collaborate with key stakeholders across departments to obtain information related to academics, admissions and advancement to develop copy for use in targeted marketing and communication initiatives.
Execute content for public relations initiatives including press releases and scripts to amplify strategic integrated marketing efforts of colleagues and the university.
Assist with the coordination and development of writing internal and external communication for the university president and other stakeholders as needed.
Plan and develop the weekly e-newsletter to communicate university news, events and happenings to internal audiences.
Support all functions of planning and executing crisis communications. This person is a member of the crisis response team.
Develop and maintain editorial standards for all university constituents, execute story pitches and identify a network of expert sources to generate content strategies.
Proofread all outgoing and incoming content written by self, colleagues, and constituents across the university to ensure consistency with The Associated Press Stylebook and University Editorial Style Guide.
Collaborate with other members of Marketing Communications team ensure integrated, cohesive concepts between content and visuals.
Perform other duties related as assigned.
This position reports to the Assistant Director of Marketing, Communications and Content.
Will train and be asked to oversee student workers/interns on a variety of marketing and communication projects.
Has regular contact with team members, faculty, administrators and staff of the university.
Contact with external parties and stakeholders will occur. The type of external constituents the individual in this position will be in contact with will vary based on the scope of the project or job task.
