The position serves as the primary website and electronic communications strategist and developer for the UT System and is responsible for building a user-focused design system and templates for all pages within the UT System website--ranging from divisional sites to the Office of the President and Board of Trustees. Responsibilities also include creation and maintenance of web-based and mobile applications, email marketing templates and electronic versions of key statewide alumni and donor publications.
Reporting to the director of marketing, this position leads all stages of strategy, development and maintenance of web-based, interactive and digital resources that enable the UT System to embrace a digitally focused, audience-centered approach to communication and marketing.
What You'll Be Doing: Design
Leading strategy, creative direction, development, monitoring and ongoing maintenance of all websites and electronic communication templates, including internal and external email campaigns, for all system offices and initiatives
Ensuring designs align with digital content strategy and user needs, adhere to UT System brand standards and amplify the brand at every opportunity
Ensuring adherence to federally required accessibility standards for all digital communications
Maintaining codebase and documentation for UT System custom themes, templates, and applications
Performing regular updates to content management software and plugins as needed
Monitoring website traffic and engagement to analyze site performance and user journey
Conducting user testing as needed
Generating reports at appropriate intervals
Leading creation of website governance framework, including but not limited to documentation of maintenance processes and protocols
Managing site permissions, monitor content lifecycles and manage the upkeep of hosting accounts, content management systems, servers, etc.
Developing and leading a training program for staff members within every department in the UT System who are designated as "site editors," equipping contacts to use WordPress / other content management systems to perform minor updates to divisional websites
Crisis Preparation and Response
Responsible for strategy and execution of page redesigns required to effectively communicate urgent notices in times of crisis, as well as designs and back-up functionality that enable uninterrupted access to pages during extreme traffic spikes and/or natural disasters
Coordinating crisis plans with emergency management and technology solutions staff members to ensure seamless coordination between offices
