The Out-of-Door Academy seeks a Director of Marketing and Communications to join a thriving school that is committed to providing a relevant and student-centered learning experience.
Responsibilities - Reporting to the Director of Development, the Director of Marketing and Communications will be responsible for the following:
Develop and manage an integrated marketing and communication plan for all digital and print communications including strategy, brand management, design and execution, advertising, social media, direct marketing, public relations, and activities to support ODA's strategic plan and vision.
Develop internal communications to ensure consistency with brand strategy throughout the ODA community.
Develop and manage strategies, through collaboration with Admissions and Development, that are data driven to provide recruitment for prospective students and families and to encourage philanthropic support of ODA alumni and parents.
Review, revise, monitor activity/site traffic and provide updates for the school website and all associated Resource Boards in myODA for continuous improvement.
Collaborate with Educators to ensure updates to the website and social platforms are timely, accurate, and the best representation of our brand.
Provide guidance and oversight for a social media team.
Establish and maintain relationships with media outlets and develop strategic marketing plans.
Live the school’s mission and core values of respect, integrity, service, excellence, and responsibility.
Qualifications - The following experience, skills & knowledge are required and/or preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, or a related field required; Master's Degree preferred.
Leadership and supervisory experience required, ideally in an independent school setting.
Ability to lead, manage, inspire, and collaborate in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under the pressure of deadlines.
Proficient in Adobe Suite, Blackbaud, web management, Google Suite, and Apple products.
Exceptional verbal and written skills.
A successful track record of working with a wide range of constituencies including students, faculty, staff, and parents.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a 12-month full-time exempt position with an expected start date of January 2023. Compensation is highly competitive and commensurate with experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

Out-of-Door was founded on Siesta Key in 1924 to serve student...s in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. In 1996, a second campus in the Lakewood Ranch area of Sarasota was acquired to accommodate the addition of an upper school. Both campuses have evolved and developed to meet the needs of a growing enrollment as well as to enhance and enrich the experience of every student at ODA. Today, the five-acre Siesta Key campus is home to the Lower School (PK-5), and the 90-acre Uihlein Campus in Lakewood Ranch houses both the Middle and Upper Schools. Facilities include interactive technology in every classroom, a fine and performing arts center with a black box theater, a student and STEM Center, a competition gymnasium with wellness center, a field house, a lighted stadium, tennis courts and a practice complex. A new Middle School campus was recently completed and opened in August, 2020.
