Compensation and benefits:
The hiring range for the Manager of Marketing and Communications will be $65,000 - $80,000 annually depending on qualifications, plus potential for annual bonus. In addition, full-time employees have access to company-sponsored benefits that include medical, dental and vision insurance; employer contributions to individual retirement plans; employer-paid parking or transit pass; reimbursements for personal cell phone use; and paid time off.

The Colorado Oil & Gas Association (COGA) is seeking a Manager of Marketing and Communications who will report directly to the Vice President of Operations and direct COGA’s strategic communications efforts to help promote the development of Colorado’s oil and natural gas resources for the benefit of society. This person will be responsible for key communications activities, including media relations; content generation, including op-eds, media statements, and social media posts; digital and marketing efforts; branding, advertising; and other relevant reputation-building strategies. These strategies are designed to fulfill COGA’s mission of being the unified political and regulatory voice for the oil and gas industry in Colorado, and supporting our members through advocacy, partnerships, education, and stakeholder engagement. The position will work across disciplines at COGA to support staff’s various communications needs.
Ensure that the benefits and contributions of the oil and gas industry to communities and the state are communicated credibly and effectively through various platforms.
Work with CEO and management team to set and implement communications strategy, includes leveraging communications tools (newsletters, website, social media, collateral, and fact sheets) for both membership engagement and external public relations messaging to consistently articulate COGA’s mission and vision.
Develop, implement, and evaluate an annual communications and media strategy that promotes the industry while also positioning COGA as an industry leader and as a strong, effective voice for industry.
Working with both internal and external teams, assist in the development of written materials such as fact sheets, briefing notes, speeches, publications and presentations on key energy issues or government actions that impact the oil and gas industry.
Coordinate all media requests with the President & CEO to ensure timely response, pitch stories, and ensure stories are correct in facts and tone.
Support COGA executives as industry thought leaders by placing bylined content, op-eds and other materials in key publications and websites.
Coordinate with other COGA staffers for association's branded communication efforts.
Maintain and update COGA’s Crisis Communications Plan, providing centralized contacts to assist members and facilitate effective industry response.
Serve as staff lead for COGA Communications Committee, leveraging the expertise and input of members for developing strategies and action plans for key initiatives.
Manage COGA’s online presence through diverse social media platforms and website. Help generate online content that engages new audiences and leads to measurable action and use appropriate analytics to measure success.
Maintain the COGA website, including job postings, requests, newsletter signups, and blog submissions.
Marketing and Promotions:
Develop and implement program- and project-specific marketing plans.
Work with programs, events, membership, regulatory, and policy staff to draft copy for marketing materials. This includes the annual membership drive and sponsorship for key initiatives.
Generate content and send out bi-weekly COGA News newsletter.
Coordinate with graphic designers, print shops and other outside vendors for the creation of graphics, media, and marketing collateral.
Help produce annual Community Impact report.

Qualifications and Core Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree and minimum 5 years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations and/or journalism. Knowledge or experience in public affairs or public policy preferred, but not required.
Excellent writing skills and proven accomplishments in a variety of mediums including publications, speeches, presentation, web and video.
Strong understanding of how to build reputation and promote messaging through effective marketing and communications.
Strong understanding in how to effectively work with the news media.
Strong attention to detail, and an ability to execute while working on multiple projects and priorities.
Ability to think strategically and proactively offer solutions.
Excellent team member; thrive in a collaborative environment.
Strong work ethic, self-starter, strong organizational skills.
Required computer/technical skills:
Advanced computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office suite (required);
Familiarity with graphic design (Adobe Creative Suite a plus);
Familiarity with HTML and desktop publishing software;
Familiarity with Account Management Software, web design best practices for usability and implementation;
Skilled in web-based research.
