National Outreach and Marketing Coordinator, Free Speech Project - Georgetown University
Since 2017, the Free Speech Project at Georgetown University has served as an independent, nonpartisan initiative working to assess the condition of Free Speech in the United States today - in education, civil society, and government. Through its flagship enterprise, the Free Speech Tracker, the project has worked to examine Free Speech on a national scale, documenting incidents in which First Amendment values have been challenged or compromised. By assembling and analyzing instances in which expression was suppressed, the project hopes to understand broader national trends around Free Speech today.
Job Overview
The National Outreach and Marketing Coordinator plans Free Speech-related symposia and discussions across the country and serves a crucial role in expanding the project's online presence through marketing and advertising.
They are responsible for marketing, advertising, building the Free Speech Project's research capacity, and coordinating at least four in-person regional symposia that will take place across the country - including recruiting guests to discuss and debate various Free Speech-related issues that resonate in each region where the symposia are held.
Working collaboratively with the Director and Program Manager, they are proactive and essential to expanding the Free Speech Project's impact and in coordinating the in-person regional symposia.
They schedule, coordinate, and plan regional Free Speech symposia that will have large in-person audiences; markets and advertises these symposia; and expands the Free Speech Project's reach in other respects.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
At least 2 years of event-planning and/or marketing experience
Comfortable working with a variety of speakers and colleagues in various locations
A strong work ethic
Proficient use of - and/or have 2 years of experience with - WordPress, Google Analytics, MailChimp and other marketing software, as well as with social media
Preferred qualifications
Graphic design experience
Experience in a higher education setting
