Position Summary
Alumni & Constituent Engagement (ACE) provides meaningful opportunities for volunteerism, service, personal and professional development, and events and programs for alumni (and friends) to enhance loyalty, dedication, and philanthropic support for Washington University. Teams within ACE include Alumni Networks, Class and University Programs, and Alumni & Parents Admission Program.
The Assistant Director, Marketing & Digital Communications will report to the Director, Marketing & Digital Communications. The Assistant Directorâ™s primary area of focus will be to develop digital marketing campaigns and print marketing materials to promote events and programs organized by the Office of Alumni & Constituent Engagement.
Job Description
Occasional in-person events may require work hours outside of typical weekday hours.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Develop digital marketing campaigns (primarily emails) and print marketing materials to promote events and programs organized by the Office of Alumni & Constituent Engagement. Events and programs may include but are not limited to Network events (Regional, Shared Interest and Cultural, and Professional and Industry), Reunions, the Alumni Association Travel Program, the Alumni Board of Governors, and the Alumni & Parents Admission Program.Â
Edit, proofread, and review marketing and communications pieces for colleagues to ensure clarity, consistency, and adherence to AP Style.Â
Craft content for web pages and social media channels and measure results to determine optimum approach.Â
Additional responsibilities as assigned. As a member of the Alumni & Constituent Engagement team, the Assistant Director may be asked to support and work at events on campus.Â
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in marketing and/or communications, preferably in higher education or advancement.
Experience working in a professional office setting.
Knowledge of and proficiency with computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and standard office equipment.Â
Knowledge of email marketing platforms such as MyEmma or similar. Â Â
Knowledge of and experience with AP Style.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Â
Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and InDesign. Â
Familiarity with and/or appreciation for the mission of alumni and advancement programs and the activities of the department.Â
Desire to play a meaningful role in the university community and to share in the communityâ™s commitment to education and research.Â
Ability to work successfully with administration, faculty, alumni, parents, and volunteers as appropriate.Â
Ability to listen carefully, learn quickly, and work effectively in a complex organization.Â

Required Qualifications
Bachelorâ™s degree.
Two years of related experience.

Salary Range
$47,300.00 - $78,200.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
