Binghamton University, a NCAA Division I institution and member of the America East Conference, is seeking an Assistant Athletic Director for Community Engagement and Marketing. This position will focus on the community engagement and marketing of all 21 of Binghamton University's Division I sports teams.
Duties include:
- Oversee community engagement strategy and plans to promote the Binghamton Bearcats brand in the local and regional markets
- Create new fan development strategies and execute plans in the local market through partnerships, community outreach and engagement in support of reaching ticket sales goals
- Work with civic and youth groups to conduct special promotional day/nights at Binghamton Athletic events
- Lead grassroots marketing and activation efforts for Binghamton Athletics. Foster community relations and build mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders and local media
- Manage the Baxter mascot program including maintaining schedule of appearances (campus and community), recruit and train students to portray Baxter and facilitate all payroll for students who portray Baxter
- Oversee and manage the Jr. Bearcat Club (or its future equivalent), including increasing membership and developing activities for members
- Work closely with Athletic Communications and Marketing teams in producing content related to community outreach and engagement
- Create, manage and distribute the Athletic Department Newsletter containing content developed for the campus community, corporate partners, alumni, donors and fans
- Provide input on social media, web content, calendars and other communication materials pertaining to community outreach and engagement
- Research issues, causes and initiatives related to community relations activities
- Assist with research, writing and editing of athletic marketing and promotional materials
- Member of team that organizes and implements events including the Celebrating Women's Athletics Luncheon and Bearcats Golf Classic
- Coordinates department donation requests
- Attend meetings, represent the athletics department on committees and maintain relationships with several groups on and off campus including the Alumni Association, Office of Communications and Marketing, America East Conference and NCAA
- Supply regular updates on all community outreach and engagement initiatives to the Deputy Director of Athletics and the Director of Athletics
Required:
Bachelor's degree
At least 2 years of experience in marketing within an intercollegiate athletics department or professional sports organization
Willingness and ability at times to work non-standard schedule, including evenings and weekends related to events and competition schedules
