Overview
The Senior Director of Brand, Content Marketing, and Communications for NYUâ™s School of Professional Studies is a new role reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer of the school and is responsible for developing the schoolâ™s brand strategy in the context of NYU's âœparentâ brand and showcasing NYU SPSâ™s distinctiveness through the web, social media, PR and internal communication channels in service of the schoolâ™s enrollment, student success goals and its reputation among industry and community leaders globally. The Senior Director provides strategic leadership to a team of seven full-time marketing staff and several strategic agency partners to shape a brand communications platform and related content marketing strategy. This person will have regular exposure to the schoolâ™s Dean and Academic leaders to identify and communicate the stories of SPSâ™s distinctive strengths. This position will collaborate with the senior director of enrollment marketing at NYU SPS and other administrative leaders in the school while building relationships with marketing leaders across NYU.
Responsibilities
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree. Coursework in marketing or communications helpful.
Preferred Education: Master's Degree Marketing-focused coursework or degree, especially if Bachelor's is in an unrelated field. 3+ years of work experience is required if the candidate has a Masterâ™s degree (vs. 5 for Bachelorâ™s alone).
Required Experience: 5+ years Marketing, brand management, PR, and/or external communications roles in higher education, agency or consumer/small business services company, or large non-profit organization.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to translate customer research and various customer data sources into compelling, creative communications that appeal to various customer segments. Experience developing and stewarding a brand platform for a higher education institution, company, or non-profit institution. Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Ability to recognize and recount stories about people or events that bring to life distinctive elements of a brand positioning and appeal to key constituencies. Direct experience in at least two of the following areas: website design and ongoing content curation, social media strategy and execution, and attracting media attention through public relations. Excellent relationship skills to work effectively across the marketing team, the academic and administrative departments in the school, and with other branding and marketing communications teams at NYU. Track record of boldness, creativity, and innovation in shaping marketing communications and winning attention from customers and other constituencies. Ability to establish and monitor processes and manage multiple projects to completion, on deadline and within budget. Ability to meet multiple deadlines. Ability to generate creative ideas and work independently and collaboratively across organizational lines. Displays broad knowledge of and appreciation for the communications profession is equally versed in both the established and emerging communications arenas and can anticipate promising trends before they are accepted in the mainstream.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Experience with project management software (e.g., ASANA) and other marketing content management and creation tools. Understanding of ways to optimize websites for best performance in organic search and best techniques to ensure visitors take desired actions on the website.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $140,000.00 to USD $190,000.00.
