POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Membership and Marketing and in close consultation with the President & CEO, Marketing & Communications Strategist is responsible for the development and execution of selected marketing and communications strategies. This includes communications for and marketing of virtual and in-person programs, routine and special member communications, social media and broadcast content, and remarks for NACUA leaders as needed. Responsibilities also include cross-functional coordination and alignment of communications and marketing efforts with organizational strategy. This role will work closely with both staff and member volunteers to drive growth and strengthen the NACUA brand through strategic messaging and innovative marketing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Positively contribute to the continuity and advancement of NACUA’s unique and positive workplace culture.
Develop and execute communication and marketing programs that align with NACUA’s strategies and objectives and maximize member engagement as identified by the Director of Membership and Marketing.
Assist the President & CEO, the Executive Assistant and Board Coordinator, and Legal Resources personnel in the drafting of various member-facing communications;
Assist President and CEO in managing and tracking media inquiries, responses, and outreach and collaborates with the President & CEO and other senior leaders to develop external messaging as needed.
Collaborate to create a wide range of marketing assets to support the success of a marketing and communication program and manages marketing-related projects with an emphasis on brand consistency, quality, and adherence to deadlines.
Develop NACUA style-guide and assist with NACUA brand refresh.
Measure the effectiveness of marketing communication campaigns and tactics with quantitative tools to track, evaluate and adjust strategies to maximize effectiveness.
Collaborate with IT on user experience (UX), user interface (UI) design, site architecture, responsive design, SEO, and compliance.
Work closely with each NACUA department to help develop marketing communication plans related to specific products or activities and ensure accurate representation of respective areas.
Lead and manage content creation for social media presence (LinkedIn, Twitter).
Lead and manage the development, creation, and recording of any broadcast content, including booking guests, maintaining a calendar and schedule with applicable deadlines, and promoting the programming.
Maintain a detailed understanding of NACUA’s membership demographics, behaviors, preferences and needs related to the use NACUA products and services to ensure our communication strategies are consistent with their ongoing needs.
EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Required:
Commitment to NACUA core values.
Extensive and diverse writing experience.
Excellent attention to detail.
Demonstrated familiarity with law, lawyers, and legal content.
Five years or more of progressive experience in communications and marketing in the legal field or a legal adjacent field.
Thorough knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in the use of marketing communication tools, concepts, and practices to maximize campaign effectiveness.
Active listener with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to leverage knowledge and experience to develop strategy and plans to meet objectives.
Demonstrated level of professionalism, positive attitude.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to work collaboratively across the association, including with volunteer leaders.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Capability to meet challenges with resourcefulness and develop innovative approaches and ideas.

Ability to travel to programs as needed, usually for four to seven days no more than twice annually.
Ability to work in-person in NACUA’s D.C. offices on Wednesdays and Thursdays and more often as needed.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Desired:
Experience in association management, law, and/or higher education.
Experience with association management systems (AMS) or customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
Proficiency with social media management platforms (Hootsuite or comparable).
