Job Summary:
Xavier University of Louisiana seeks applicants for the position of Marketing and Communications Specialist. Specifically, this role focuses on supporting, promoting and enhancing Xavier University of Louisiana's profile and elevating the University's brand. The Marketing and Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing and maintaining effective and strategic communication methods between the Academic Affairs division and the Marketing and Communications department. The specialist will engage regularly with faculty and students to disseminate XULA news stories and develop university branding campaign materials.
This role will be an integral part of developing and executing written and digital media to reach targets from brand awareness to product promotion. A candidate for this role will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of the marketing and communications strategy by serving as a contributor to the team in a variety of capacities. This position will have responsibility for coordinating marketing and communication messaging for the Academic Affairs division to all audiences including donors, alumni, staff, faculty, students, and friends of the university. The candidate will support the management team as it implements plans for student communications, media outreach, digital media, community engagement, and brand relevance to insure increased visibility, recognition and customer relevance for all programs as a part of the overall Xavier brand.
The selected candidate will work closely with the Marketing and Communications team and the Academic Affairs division. The candidate must be creative and progressive, a team player, work effectively and efficiently, perform duties with independence, initiative, and reliability, work well under the pressure of deadlines.
The Xavier University of Louisiana Department of Marketing and Communications serves as a strategic advisor to partners and units across campus, purposefully fulfilling partners' goals and objectives, helping to increase knowledge, support fundraising efforts, engage students, alumni, faculty and staff, and increase enrollment. The division proactively shapes the University's brand and optimizes the University's reputation internally and externally in a transparent manner. In words, in pictures, online and in the news media, the Department of Marketing and Communications shares the many stories of how Xavier and its community members are improving the human condition, to advance the University's strategies. The team specializes in brand management, advertising, strategic communication, community engagement, media relations, digital and social media strategy, website development, content strategy, print and online publications and creative direction for videography and photography. Minimum Qualifications:
—Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field.
Xavier University of Louisiana, founded by St. Katharine Drexel and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in 1925, is Catholic and historically Black.
